The intermittent dripping of water from the faucet, and Genevieve's semi-heavy breathing were the only sounds resonating along the walls of the ladies restroom. The grip her palms had on the edges of the bowl sink seemed to tighten by every second that passed. She couldn't realize how painfully firm her hold had gotten, because she was too engrossed in staring at a woman in the mirror.
That woman glared back with a soul-rattling intensity. Raw anger shone through her eyes. It was so raw, that it could possibly kill if she looked for far too long at someone. While there were several emotions that simmered in her gaze, just one was prominent. The evident fury was directed towards several places, and it did include herself, but it was mainly aimed at one and only one person.
She was leaning downwards, since she too balanced herself on her feet by clutching the washbasin. If her fierce expression wasn't taken in account and only her exquisite appearance was focused upon, no one could tell that a storm brewed inside of her.
"A pleasure to meet you, my darling."
Genevieve felt disgusted too. It sickened her to the stomach to even recall the exchange that took place just moments ago, several steps away from this restroom. She never thought she'd have to smile and converse politely with a man responsible for countless horrors. The man who burned away the obtained earnings of people. One who also blackmailed Amber into betraying the system.
A man, who was capable of giving away a head detached from someone's body as a gift.

"You too, sir."
The world around Genevieve began to spin for a full moment. She gulped the bile down that had risen in her throat, and all the previous assumptions she developed about Thomas died down in an instant. When he first approached the social circle, she had supposed that he may not be that bad of a person.
Oh, how terribly wrong she was.
"I could have never guessed that you were an officer, Ms. Genevieve." Thomas stated matter-of-factly but his gentle smile remained, and his gaze dropped to take in her attire. It wasn't in a way of admiration, rather, it was one of sheer observation.
Amidst the shocking realization of who he actually was, she knew what he was trying to imply. The mayor's layered statement hinted at how she wasn't in her accustomed navy blue uniform, with her hand on a firearm at all times.
Had it been the old and naive Genevieve who joined the police department a few years ago, she would have cowered away in embarrassment. But this Genevieve simply put on a half smirk. She was never going to showcase her weakness to someone who preyed on it.
"And I could have never guessed that you were fifty, Mr. Thomas." She swirled the liquid contents of her glass before bringing it up to her lips so she could take a sip. Upon lowering it back down, she returned her attention to the mayor.
