"Lockwood? Are you in here?"

"Laundry room, Lucy."

I walk into the laundry room to see Lockwood filling up salt cannisters. Next to him, the washing machine sloshes and makes noise.

"George wanted me to tell you to come up to the kitchen so we can discuss the new case. He stands up and brushes salt off of his pants.

"I just finished. Let's go."

We start towards the door when Lockwood stops and looks at me.

"Lucy, how are you? I never ask, and for all I know, you could be feeling suicidal."

I laugh as I answer.

"I am perfectly fine. What about you?"

"I am fine. Thanks for asking."

"Your welcome."

Smiling, we both walk into the kitchen where George is waiting with three cups of tea.

"All right let's get started on this case,"George says.We each pull up a chair and sit down at the table.

"So what do we know?" asks Lockwood.

"Well, thanks to George's research,we know that a family was murdered, and they have been haunting the house they lived in ever since,"I reply.

"So, today, George, can you go to the library and research some more? Thanks. Lucy and I will stay here to practice and take care of some agent errands,"Lockwood says, completing our short meeting.

Wow. A whole day with Lockwood...

"Er, Lucy?"Lockwood says."Yeah?" I reply, snapping out of my trance."Are you okay? Not feeling suicidal?"

"I'm fine, I just started zooming out."

"All right, just checking."

He smiles at me, and I feel a weird fluttering in my stomach. Instead of acknowledging it, I pushed it away, unsure of what it meant.

"Since I am going to the library, do either of you want any books?"George asks, looking at the two of us.

"No thanks."

"Same here."

"Okay. Bye," Gerge replies, before he slips out the door and into the snowy road.

"Do you want to go to the corner store? Arif has some new flares,"Lockwood asks.

"Sure."

Thirty minutes later, we arrive back home, carrying bags filled with an assortment of things, from tea to needles to magnesium flares. As we are putting it all away, Lockwood asks a question.

"Do you want to go get a real tree this year, for Christmas?"

"Really?"

"Yep."

"YES!!"

I quickly put the rest of the tea away and went to grab my black coat and my matching red scarf and gloves with a red hat. Lockwood took his coat and gloves, and taking our wallets, we bolted out the door to find the perfect Christmas tree.
