Chapter 1 - The Big Talk •Jen's POV•

Another day, another day, another day to live, another day, another day, another day to give. Oh, who am I kidding? It's getting pretty boring living in Agavalon. I mean, I'm princess and all, but that does make anything more interesting.
I sighed, stood up, walked over to the window, and looked out of it at the woods that day not too far from the castle. Oh, how I would love to go there.
"Jennifer!" I heard a voice call. Mom.
"Coming!" I replied as I rushed out of my room. I quickly found a seat at the table of which my mother was sitting at. I was expecting some good news, like that I was going to be able to go to the woods, but that simply is never the case, because instead I had to listen to this big speech.
"As you know, Jen, you are turning 18 soon and blah blah blah blah blah we wanted to give you what you need blah blah blah blah blah blah blah you're getting married soon," she said.
"MARRIED?!" I yelled, snapping to attention, "But mother-!"
"No buts!" Mom shouted back, "You're getting married and that's final!"
"I don't want to!" I cried, as I got up and ran out of the palace.
"Jennifer!" I heard my older brother call, and start to chase me.
I was too busy running, that I didn't think about where I was going and soon found myself deep in the woods, and I had no clue where I was going. All of the sudden, bushes were rustling all around me, and when I stepped a little closer to take a look, I saw the two most menacing icy blue eyes stare at me. I screamed and started running the opposite direction. Was that a lich?! I've read about those, their able to take down even the toughest enemies, but I had no idea they lived there! I felt something grab my arm and I yelped, only to realize a moment later that it was my brother, who was so angry that he was practically steaming. He dragged me back to the castle, back inside of the walls that forbade me from travel. My pleas of 'No, please, brother please!' were no use to me. He finally let me go. My wrist was aching from his grip. My mom rushed up and hugged me, but then started yelling at me for pulling such a stunt.
Finally, she reached her breaking point and shouted, "GO TO YOUR ROOM! YOU'RE GROUNDED YOUNG LADY!" My eyes widened, I begged her not to ground me and told her I wouldn't do it again but it was no use, her mind was made up, but I wouldn't be staying tonight, no, I would be sneaking out.
