Chapter Five : Someone else's Heartache

I LET out another sigh while looking at the buildings we passed by. The talk between me and Tzuyu has been bothering me since we left the campus.

And the most frustrating part of it, is the fact that I don't know what's bothering me.

A poke to my side got my attention. I looked over my side and removed myself from leaning on the windshield of the car we're in, "What is it, Yeonjunie?"

"What's bothering you?" He asked in a low tone, careful to not wake Beomgyu who is currently sleeping between us.

"Nothing." I tried to dismissed him and avoid eye contact.

"You can't fool me." His eyes narrowed. "You've been tapping your foot nonstop since we got seated."

I looked at my foot to see that Yeonjun is indeed right. I sighed. I can't really hide anything from my cousin, huh? Whose idea was it to let me and Beomgyu go home together with Yeonjun? Oh, mine!

I heard him let out a breath. "Alright, I get that you might not want me to know. But, whatever that is, don't think too much about it." He advised.

"You'll wrinkle early, if you stress too much." He chuckled which made me roll my eyes. I was about to thank him for his 'warm words' which was rare but nevermind.

Beomgyu squirmed from his spot that made Yeonjun and I freeze. But, thankfully he just adjusted his position and wasn't disturbed. Yeonjun and I looked at each other in relief and suppressed ourselves from laughing out loud. We don't want a whiny Beomgyu in the car right now.

THE NEXT DAY was... uneventful... Or so I thought. I mean school hours is almost over. Nothing interesting happened. Just Tzuyu asking me what brand of shampoo would I think she should use that'll quicken the growth of her hair.

I was shocked that she still wasn't over what Jungkook has said to her yesterday.

I tried consulting Yeonjun and Soobin about it, but the two were quite busy for the upcoming sports fest, so I had to spend my break and lunch alone.

I leaned on my palm and just watching the volleyball team practice. They're practice looks a bit hard this week since the tournament's fast approaching.

I played with the strawberry dangling thing-- or was it called keychain?-- on my bag with my other hand. My phone's battery died a while ago so I don't have anything to amuse me right now.

I could just go home alone and let Yeonjun drop Beomgyu home, but Mom would probably not like that. According to her, it'll be much safer for the both of us to go and be at home at the same time because she goes home late at night. She said she'll worry less that way.

...and I don't want my Mom to go on full Momma bear mode if she finds out I chose to go home alone. Which I know she'll really know knowing my annoying kind of a brother.

I heard the coach's whistle which made me sat up straight and pay attention to the team. The coach gestures for a break and everyone immediately went for the benches and bleachers.

Sweating, Beomgyu approached me with a sly grin. Knowing what's to come, my hand immediately reached for his towel and a bottle of water, throwing it at him.

"Noona!" He complained when the water bottle almost slipped from his grasp. I caught a glimpse of Taehyun and Hueningkai laughing behind Beomgyu. Yeonjun, on the other hand is overdoing it and is slapping the bleachers beside him while laughing.

I groaned. He acts more childish than Beomgyu's youngest friend, Hueningkai.

"Noona, where you going?" Beomgyu asked looking up at me dusting off my clothes.

"Restroom." I lazily responded.

Beomgyu nodded and waved me off afterwards. What a brother!

STRETCHING my arms while walking until I can hear that satisfying pop after sitting for too long is quite nice. And it's kind of making me feel tired. I covered my mouth when a yawn was starting to escape.

"Who was he?"

I halted my steps upon hearing what it looks like two silhouettes talking in hushed tones in the middle of the hallway. It's getting a bit dark since the sun is starting to hide around this time so I couldn't make out who they were.

I was about to take a U-turn because I don't wanna disturb but a familiar name got my attention.

"Eunwoo please..." The girl's soft voice resonated through the hall. "He was no one. Stop being so... so... jealous."

"Can you blame me? I'm just trying to ask you about him. Irene, my friend saw you with--"

"So you're doubting me? You would believe your friend over me. I told you he was no one!" Her voice raised at every word she uttered.

Eunwoo released a sigh. "No... I just-- please just hear me out." I could almost feel him struggle with what to do. And my heart ached each passing second.

I don't want to stay and intrude but I can't seem to command my feet to get out of there.

Eunwoo is known as the campus gentleman and campus crush but it's also not a secret that his already off-limits. He's been always faithful to his beloved girlfriend, understanding, gentle... The guy any girl would ask for. But his girlfriend seem to not notice or just doesn't care.

And because Eunwoo is a bit popular in the campus, there was always eyes on him and everyone around him. Most especially his girlfriend. There was a gossip going around that Irene was cheating but Eunwoo chose to not listen to those. Respecting and trusting her.

I've always admired their relationship. Yes, I do like Eunwoo but that doesn't mean I won't be happy if he found someone.

"Didn't you know, eavesdropping is a crime?" Someone breathe near my ear which startled me.

I was about to scream in horror when that certain someone covered my mouth and pulled me to the other hallway. I involuntarily let out an 'ow' when my back hit the wall.

The stranger faced me and trapped me on the wall I'm leaning on. Still covering my mouth with his hands.

I tried searching for the strangers face despite the darkness. Fortunately, he backed up a bit to a place where a little bit of sunlight was shining through. The familiar nose and hair that belonged to Jungkook was the first features I noticed.

"Hmmmp!" I struggled while glaring daggers at him, but eventually silenced myself when Eunwoo and Irene started arguing.

"That's it, I'm done! I'm tired! I am dead tired... I can't take this anymore!" I heard something dropped on the floor. Jewelry?

"Irene... Please, let's calm down and talk thi--"

"...if you can't even trust your girlfriend, then I guess it'll be better if we--"

"No, no, please... Rin, we can- I can--" Eunwoo's voice trembled.

"No, Eunwoo... we can't! Let's just accept that maybe we aren't really for each other." Irene's voice was marked with finality, walking away afterwards.

...then the hallway was silent once again... But not for long, since I- I mean, we can hear Eunwoo letting out a shaky sigh. Almost as if holding himself from shedding a tear. Then, I heard another thing thrown on the ground. Basing from the sound, it must be his bag. His footsteps echoed through the empty halls... searching for something.

"Where is it?"

"I-it must be here somewhere..."

"...the ring..." He breathed.

I closed my eyes tightly. My heart broke even more. Unknowingly, tears started streaming down my face.

"Wha--" Jungkook's doe eyes widened. Slowly and gently removing his hands from covering my mouth. Too shock to even utter a word.

Not knowing what to do, he watch his neighbor cry silently in front of him.

...He had never met someone cry for someone else's heartache. Until now.
