Sheeth (AS) is not actually mentioned in the Quran. He is mentioned in the Hadith by Prophet Muhammad (SAW)
"Allah (SWT) sent down 150 scriptures (psalms) of which 50 were revealed to Sheeth (AS)" Sahih Al Bukhari.
Sheeth (AS) was therefore both a prophet and a messenger!
Idrees (AS) was mentioned in the Quran as a man of knowledge, skill, status, nobility and standing.
"And mention in the book, Idrees. Indeed he was a man of truth and a prophet. And we raised him to a high station." [Quran 19: 56-57]
Ls 1 : Pray and supplicate to Allah (SWT) at the time of hardship.
When Habil was no more with Adam (AS), he would pray to Allah (SWT) in greif and yet never lost hope in his mercy.
Sheeth (AS) was sent as a replacement, as a gift from Allah (SWT). He was very similar to Adam (AS) and reminded everyone of the beginning.
Ls 2 : Steer away from those who are not on the right path.
It was a part of the sharia of Sheeth AS that their people and the people of the far valley (of those of Qaabil ) were not to be met i.e, the both groups were to be distinctly made to stay away!
WHY? Because those were people of weak Imaan and their negative influence could harm their imaan as well!
Staying with religious and pious people motivates you to be religious and pious, being so will seem easy and better! But if you stay among the astray, then shaytaan will make it beautiful to be astray!
Ls 3 : Stay away from both Major and Minor sins!
When you hear a beat, your feet and fingers tap and your hips start to sway, nausbillah!
The shaytaan that can make you tap your fingers, can even lead you to commit major sins and heinous crimes!
Shaytaan had'nt started with shirk, rather he started with Tabarruj, free mingling and zina, and start of partying and music! Which later took to major sins like shirk!
Ls 4 : Life is a test by Allah (swt) for all of us!
Sin is committable, but whether we commit or not depends on how much we fear Allah (swt) and how much we are conscious of his presence.
Allah (swt) tested the youth of Sheeth (AS) with women and music and partying, but they ended up committing Zina (Adultery).
Ls 5 : Not all glitters are gold!
Everything that is inviting and good, may not actually be good for us, we could be lured into a trap of shaytaan!
The Beats and music seemed inviting and fun, but they were indeed the traps set by Shaytaan that he had used to lure people into moving them away from the Truth!
Ls 6 : Once we run out of time, there's no coming back!
Idrees (AS), who was a skilled and knowledgable man, whose story of death is more well known! He had heard the Angels talk about how long life meant that there would be more time to grab good deeds, so he asked the angels to take him to Allah (swt) so he could ask for a longer life, but to his surprise, on the fourth heaven he met the angel of death who had come to take him!
This world is short lived, and we must do good deeds while we last, because once we die, we cannot come back and ask for chances to do more!
May Allah (SWT) help us to adapt lessons from these stories and implement them in our lives! In Sha Allah we try to stay away from influences that steer us away from faith, yes i know, i mean music let's all try and leave it too!!
(In Sha Allah i too leave this bad habit of music!)
