The lady's pale yellow eyes stared at me. "That's not normal is it?" I half whispered to my sister. I blinked and looked again at lady. Her eyes were still the same unsettling color. I was beginning to get nervous, and habit kicked in. I chewed on my lower lip and my hands began to fidget. My sister's hand reached over and caught my hand. I stopped.
"It'll be fine." She said. "Quit it."
I sighed and dropped my head. I could hear the lady's murmurs as she jotted down something on her notepad. The silence too awkward for me I leaned over and whispered again.
"Is she even a real doctor?"
"Stop it! Can't you just be quiet?!" She rolled her eyes and shook her head, "Boys."
"What?! This has got nothing to do with my gender!" I said. She glared at me and I closed my mouth abruptly. Looking for something vaguely interesting I roamed the room with my eyes. A snake head caught my attention. The snake was dead.... and it had yellow eyes. Stop being paranoid, I told myself. Its just a snake head, probably not even real... a decoration.
"How did thiz happen?" My head flew up at the first words that came out of the lady's mouth. Finally she had spoken after all that time...
"I fell..." my sister said, "By the caves."
"Ah!" The Lady said, her eyes glinting, "I thought so. Dangerouz place, you kidz shouldn't be playing there."
"Its not like that. I-I'm seventeen. I think I can handle myself." My sister glanced at me for help. The last thing we needed was for the lady to ask where our parents were.
" Yeah." I said, "We weren't playing anyway." I shrugged.
"Then what were you doing?"
I opened my mouth and then froze. "Uh..."
A smile overtook the lady's face. "I see..."
