Marinette
I didn't look any of the Wayne's in the eye. I kept my head down as best I could and only talked if they asked questions. Lila was silent for once. Chloé made sure I ate something, she knew I wouldn't eat unless forced, but I wasn't hungry. Not because I ate three donuts before we got here. No, the silence between conversations were excruciating. I knew the Wayne's we're watching me. After the scene that happened outside, and the fact I wasn't looking at them, were any indication.
"Marinette, did you tell him?" Chloé asked in Indie.
"Kinda. I most just apologized for not telling him something was going on, but I didn't tell him what happened." I replied in German.
"What the heck! Were you at least going to tell me you weren't coming back after the trip?" Chloé stated in Dutch.
I turned to face her, shock evident on my face. "How do you know?" I asked in Greek
"Your phone. You fell asleep looking at apartments. What happened?"
"Lila got to my parents. They took my sewing machine and the ability to leave unless it was for school."
"I'm gonna kill them!!!" Alix yelled in German.
"No you won't. Besides, I'll graduate soon and planned on returning here anyway. I'll use Kalkki and get the fabrics and commissions I have in my room and bring them to my new apartment. That I will be looking at in a few days. And I have an appointment at Gotham Academy tomorrow." I replied in German.
"You shouldn't have to run." Chloé sighed
"I'm not running. I'm escaping hell and surviving." I said before I finished my plate.
I looked at the table and saw everyone staring at us.
"What?" I asked
"That was—3-4–5! 5 languages. What were you talking about?" Jason yelled as he stared at us.
I blushed and shrugged.
"The trip." I stayed with my arms crossed.
"Attention Whore." Alya coughed into her hand. The class snickered. I rolled my eyes and drank my water.
"Alfred, did you make cookies?" I asked. When he nodded I walked to the kitchen and grabbed the Kwami food.
"Tikki, can you give Pollen and Fluff their food, along with Xuppu." I said, when she nodded I walked back out to the table. I looked Kim, Alix, and Chloé in the eye and gave a subtitle nod.
And then, just as I started to eat a cookie, something hot poured down my back. I stood quickly and raced out the door. Knowing Lila stood there with a satisfied smile, before bursting into tears.I slowly came to a stop in an alley. My skin burned and my clothes were sticking to my skin, but I just ignored it. I've become really good at ignoring the pain, that's how the tough girl act works. I pulled the necklace, Damian gave me, from my shirt, and played with it. I stayed crouched next to some trash cans and waited. I waited for the burning to stop before I stood and walked to the hotel.
"You still have it."
I spun around and threw a punch at the person that spoke. But I was surprised, when they caught it, and I was looking into the eyes of Damian Wayne.
He gently lowered my hand and played with the necklace that hung loosely in the open.
"Yeah. I use to wear it all the time. Till they broke it one day and I had to fix it. I sobbed for hours because it broke. I thought it would be the same but, I was wrong. It's like it was never broken."
I gave a sad smile at the memory. Lila ripped it off, after she tripped me down the stairs."Why did you run?" He asked quietly.
"I always run. If I stay it's normally worse then that. So I run to keep myself safe." I said looking down. I can't look at him anymore. I was sticky and gross and it was awful to stand next to your best friend and slowly reveal what's been happening over that past three years.
"Chloé. Chloé told me what happened. After you left. She practically slapped the Lila girl. She would have done more but Kim and Alix pulled her off. Who are they?"
"My friends." I said with a smile.
"Marinette talk to me. Please. This is killing me! I haven't heard from you in months, and when I see you again for the first time in years, your hurting and I don't know why! Angel, Midnight, please! Please tell me what's going on."
He was pleading. He was begging. He was pleading and begging and he will only show me this because I'm his best friend. So I did. I told him about Lila. I told him about the threats. I told him everything, but Adrien. And by the end of it I was sobbing and he was holding me. He rubbed my back, gently kissed my head, and hugged me till I stopped.
He walked me back to the manor where he gave me some of Barabra's clothes. But I fell asleep before I could ask him to take me back to the hotel.Damian
I watched her sleep. I sat in a chair across the room, watching. It felt like a dream. It felt like....everything had fallen into place.
I use to sit down and pull up her contact and I would want to call her or text her, but I chickened out. I kept thinking she was mad at me, or that she thought I was mad at her. But her life has been a living hell. So I sat, and watched the girl that has been nothing but kind to me.
"Master Damian, the French class is returning to their hotel." Alfred said as he walked in. "I got a call from her parents today. Saying to keep an eye on her, she wasn't herself. She was being rude and wasn't allowed to do anything. When I picked her up at the hotel, the light that was there was gone. Like, the sun stopped shining on the earth and an ice age had happened."
I glanced at the man beside me and sighed. I know that Lila was the main cause of it, but there is something I'm missing. What's going on with the Agreste?
