Marinette
I knew where I was the second I woke up. I didn't know how many days had passed this time, so I just laid there. I was on my stomach and my head was tilted to the side. I had a tube in my mouth and throat, and a my back was on fire. I haven't felt pain in years. So when I wake up to this, it's unsettling. I didn't make a sound, I ignored the pain in favor of rolling on my side.
"Don't move. Your stitches are barely holding your cuts in place." A lady in a nursing scrubs said. "Dr. Shepherd will be with you in a moment."
I just blinked twice and focused on not screaming.
"Your friends just left. They should be back in an hour or two." The nurse said.
I stayed quiet and I didn't move. And when the door opened and closed I knew she was gone. Ignoring her statements, I rolled over till I was on my back. It was painstakingly long, and the pain only increased. A few minutes later, Dr. Shepherd walked in.
"Your awake." He said with a smile. "You've been out for the past two weeks. And it looks like you have new protectors with you this time." He said with a chuckle. I smiled as best I could with the tube in my mouth and throat. But his disappeared as he checked over my my body. "You have multiple cuts on your back and side. Robin found you passed out in an alley, three days later. Some kids found you, said you have them money and helped flag him down. They're here too."
My eyes widened at that. What were they doing here?
I heard the heart monitor start beeping erratically. And my head started to spin. I grabbed onto the closest thing I could and held onto it. When my panic attack subsided, I slowly let go of the railing attached to my bed.
"I'm going to remove the tube in your throat. It's going to feel weird, and it might be a little bit painful, but I going to pour a little water down your throat so try to hold your breath while it goes down." Dr. Shepherd said before grabbing a tiny syringe, that didn't have a needle, and squirted water around the tube.
I held my breath and well as I could, but I still choked a little. He tilted my head back and pulled the tube out. I sucked in a deep breath and coughed.
"Alright," he said and handed me a glass of water. "while you were in surgery your friends, Chloé and Alix, answered some questions for me." He paused and sighed. "They told about January. We did a rape check and passed it onto the police. Your uncle Gordon will be overseeing the investigation."
I sighed. "It won't stick. He's famous and his friends father is a cop and will get the evidence erased." I looked him in the eye "Two weeks and three days. I think that's the longest I've been down in the past three years."
Shepherd sighed "They also told me about your parents. What's going no there?"
"They stopped believing in me. It's simple." I stated. "How long till they get back?" I asked quietly.
"They haven't left this room in almost two weeks. All of them taking turns to watch you. You died a few times and it scared the living shit out of Dick and Tim, but they'll be back in a few minutes."I nodded my thanks. And I didn't answer anymore of his questions. My back was in pain, my head was hurting, and I felt alone again. The depression only seemed to get worse in the next few minutes.
I sat my bed up and stared at the window. And when the door opened, I didn't acknowledge it. I heard whispering all around me, but I didn't think too long on it.
"Marinette look at me." I knew the voice, couldn't place who it was. There was a mumbled "not again" before someone was in my face. "Marinette you better look at me right now and say something or I'm having Tikki and Plagg curse you."
And just like that, that sentence brought back reality. I smiled softly.
"You know you can't make them do anything, Chlo." I whispered, my throat still soar from the tube being removed.
"Why did you stay at the manor?" She asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know why. I knew if I stayed, all the attention would be on me. It was my fault that kid got hurt in the first place, I wasn't going to be the reason he didn't get treated first." It was deathly silent. "Two weeks huh?"
"Yeah. I mean the longest one was a week. You doubled this time." Chloé hissed and looked at my arms and legs.
"Anything interesting happen while I was gone?" I asked, as Alix and Kim stepped up next to Chloé.
"Oh! This kid named Jack beat the shot out of Adrien at the gardens after you disappeared. He said he remembered you, and that he was crossing a line." Kim said with a satisfied smirk.
I paused for a moment. Jack. Jack. Jack. Oh shit Jack Daniels!!!
"That would be my ex boyfriend. We're still friends but not how it use to be." I said and shrugged. That pulled at some of the scabs and it hurt like hell. I bit my lip from screaming and focused on Kim and Alix yelling at each other. Like any other day. "If you don't stop staring at me, I will personally make you." I said directing my statement at the Wayne's.
They looked scared. I've never seen them like this before and it scared me.
"How often?" Duck asked. As Damian stepped to my side and held my hand.
"Let's see— Chloé, how many does this make this month?"
Chloé counted it up on her fingers, using both hands. "This would be......13. 14. 16. The 16th hospital visit."
"How mani is the monthly visit?" Tim looked afraid to ask that.
"Twenty-five." Kim growled out.
The silence was defining. So I played with Damians hand to keep me distracted.
"What's the pain this time?" Chloé asked her time was serious.
"Getting thrown down the stairs then getting stabbed twelve times." I whispered.
"You mean that figuratively right?" Jason asked. No one answered him. "Right?" He pushed.
"Nope, it happened once before. But the stab count went up. There were a few close calls, but she ends up pulling through in the end." Alix said, crossing her arms.
"Hold him back." I said, Kim and Alix rushed over and stood behind Jason. And a few seconds later, he was thrashing and trying to get out the door. He yelled and thrashed till they pinned him down."Who else knows?" Bruce asked.
"Uncle Jagged and Aunt Penny know." I replied. "Along with Luka, Kagami, and Kagami's Mother" and just like that my phone went off. I physically flinched as Tomoe's contact appeared on the screen. I looked at Chloé and held my breath.
"Hello?"
"Marinette? I heard you were in the hospital, is this true?"
I glared at Chloé and sighed. "Yes, Ma'am. Chloé, Kim, and Alix are here as well. They aren't injured, but they are with me."
"Doesn't matter. I have a friend that lives in Gotham, we'll be in the first plane available."
"Madame Tsurugi, there is no need for that. Doesn't Kagami have a fencing tournament in a few days? She can't miss that."
"Kagami should be with you, as well as Luka. I am being both with me. We will be there by tonight." She hung up.
"No!!!!" I cried and glared at Chloé. "Did you have to tell her. I love her to death but really?! You had to tell her! She's flying out with Luka and Kagami, you can make sure they get to their friends house, and make sure Madame Tomoe doesn't go overboard!" I halfheartedly yelled, before I started to laugh uncontrollably. The pain was worse now, but I was laughing and I couldn't stop. I pumped my fist in the air. "Kagami and Luka vacation!" I yelled through my laughter. Kim, Alix, and Chloé joining me shouting the same thing.
