XXIX- Metoprolol

We were silent the whole ride. Hurricane never let go of my hand, he just kept on pressing it, holding it like holding on to his dear life. Barb kept silent.. for a while, though.

"Hurri, nag-aaya sila Casper ngayon." She informed.

Hindi ako lumingon, I content myself with listening. Hininaan ko na lamang ang volume ng car radio so they can talk clearly.

"Saan?"

"Revel. 11 daw."

I glanced at Hurricane nang maramdaman kong tumingin siya sakin, he was just about to open his lips to say something nang mag-salita ulit si Barb.

"Okay lamang naman dba, Chandy?"

This time, nilingon ko siya saglit. She's smiling widely, her eyes travelled from mine to Hurricane then back at me. "You can join us too!"

I glanced at Cane before looking back at her, smiling a little. "Maybe next time. May exam pa ako tomorrow, I need a rest."

"Oh, sure." she answered nodding then her eyes flew back to Hurricane again, expectant.

"Cane can go if he wants." I added bago umayos ng upo.

I meant what I said, anyway. It's okay if he wants to spend time with them, kailangan ko na din naman matulog but.. I am kinda hoping he'll spend his time tonight with me but.. it's selfish, right?

He has his own life. Marami pa namang pwedeng time na samahan niya ako sa condo o kahit saan. He can have his own fun without me, I am okay with it as long as he won't get into trouble.

"Yes! So, G na Hurri?" she asked excitedly, leaning on Hurricane's chair.

I licked my dry lips as I looked at the window's car, watching the city lights and the people outside, but at the same time I'm waiting for his reply.

I heard him clearing his throat, "Pass, next time nalang."

"Pumayag na si Chandy, oh! Minsan lang."

"Minsan nalang din kami magka-kasama. I'll spend as much time as I can with my girl." His voice was serious yet gentle.

Agad akong napatingin sa kanya, totally shock sa sinagot niya. Truly, I am already expecting na sasama siya and again walang kaso but..

I didn't bother preventing myself to smile, I did together with my heart. He glanced at me, his eyes were tender and promising before he gave a wink. I rolled my eyes, a smile still plastered on my face.

"But minsan na lamang tayo lumalabas." There's desperation in her voice. She really wants him to go with them.

"Sorry, Barb. May usapan nadin kami ni Chandy. Pasabi nalang kela Casper."

"But.."

"Tonight's my time with my girlfriend, I need a rest. Please." He said with finality. He didn't raise a voice but there's something in it and his words that made her give it up.

"S—sure."

Then the car stopped, lumingon si Cane kay Barb to give her a small smile. "Ingat kayo," bilin niya.

I also looked at Barb, her lips were smiling but her eyes aren't. She's faking it, pero hindi ko na lamang pinaka-isip pa.

"Take care, Barb." I bid goodbye. Tumingin siya sakin, bago dahan dahang tumango. She glanced at Hurricane for one last time and my boyfriend just smiled at her, his eyes relaying his decision's final.

"Ingat kayo." She said before leaving the car.

My eyes followed her, she's slowly walking and her shoulders sagged as she looked back at us one last time.
