I sit back in awe, tingles running up and down my spine. I look around the shoe box of an office and try hold in any shock that appears on my face.

I was just a girl being transferred from a different orphanage yesterday. Now I have some sort of magical voodoo?! This is going to take some getting used to.

"What exactly can I do, like, can I do spells or-?" I ask hesitantly.

"My dear, you are a gifter, not a wizard. You can only do the things you wish to. You can help people in mysterious ways. Think of it as more....changing their fate. Does that make more sense?"

I nod my head, not knowing what to say.

Truth be told, I don't really get it, but I guess all there is to do is just smile and wave.

I gather my coat and stand.

"Don't be scared, Denise, we will meet soon."

This is really starting to drive me crazy now- I need to know who this person, if it is a person, is inside my head!

As I exit the building, I'm led to my new room, where my luggage is already waiting. There is no one inside or loiteriing in the halls like I expected there to be.

"Where is everyone?" I wonder aloud.

"Oh, there's a school on campus, that's where they are bound to be," one of the guards say.

"Okay, thank you."

They start to explain where to go if I were in trouble, or anything else. As they go to leave, I thank them and go to sit on my assigned bed.

The room is roughly the size of  a small classroom, with lime green wallpaper covering the walls. Each person has set their section up the way they want, with posters of sport stars, anime characters, band players and idols. The beds are aligned with different printed sheets, comforters and assorted blankets like colourful beachhouses scattering a shore.

There are bookshelves and clothes and clutter and other little knick-knacks. There is a bunk bed in the corner furtherest from me and I start to think of possibilites that would fill the space in between those sheets. I think about unpacking my bag, but I steer away from that thought, it sickens me when I feel so tired.

I collapse onto the bare mattress, and as I drift into a slumber, I hear the voice once again.

"I will see you soon enough, my darling."

I'm sorry I haven't been active, my babies. I have been back to school.
I hope you enjoy this chapter.
