There was so much commotion in the library, I could hardly think. Normally, I can find peace and quiet in the library, the only place in my crazed world where peace and quiet actually exists, but now even the library isn't peaceful or quiet. I give up on trying to block out the noises and grab my stuff.
"Bye, Ms. Clarkson," I say to the librarian.
"Bye, Adam. Come back soon," Ms. Clarkson says, without looking up from her work.
My name is Adam Wolfton. I am the 10th to be born into our family of twenty-kids, all boys. Which means that I'm not very well known. The crisp wind bites my face as I step out of the library. I never go to the palace library because my brothers can find me to easily in there. I don't know what they want from me! ... Besides for me to do their homework.
I walk through the village, looking around at my surroundings. So peaceful. I turn onto another street and see Elliott storming down the street. He doesn't seem to know where he is, or where he's going. He storms past me without even noticing me. He needs someplace with peace and quiet, I think. I sigh. Now if only I can find a place like that.
