Sophie entered the conference room quietly, few head turned to her, she hurried and sat beside paul.

'where the hell were you? i sent you a text to bring some files from the boss' desk'

'I-I'm sorry... I was' Sophie stuttered and stopped when Ben entered.

Ben threw her a glance that melted her, she suddenly felt guilt choke her, she suppressed a cough and cleared her throat lightly, moistening her lips nervously as Ben stood oozing with intense power and confidence. Her eyes fluttered as she struggled to look up at his face.

'i don't usually say this but Thank you, each and every one of you' Ben said  giving everyone a glance, everyone wearing a happy smile. 'We couldn't save the company but we didn't loose anything, which is more than enough, in the end the sacrifice was for everyone of you that has helped this company grow over the years. Just wanted to say thank you'

The light mood didn't last though, as soon as project presentations and reviews of the company projects started, the mood became serious.

After the meeting, paul and sophie followed Ben to his office.

He gave Paul instructions and told Sophie to sit as paul walked out, Paul gave Sophie an intense glance before leaving.

Sophie stared at her fingers as Ben focused on her, his fingers locked infront of his lips as he stared.

Sophie swallowed, squirming uncomfortably under his gaze.

'Do you need something sir?' Sophie mumbled out almost choking on her spit.

He looked away with a sigh and stood up.

'Go lock the door?' He commanded, watching her reactions closely.

Sophie's eyes fluttered, she glanced at the door and then at Ben, who just stood with his arms crossed watching. She looked down and stood up slowly and walked to the door as thoughts ran through her mind. She shouldn't do it, one more time for the last time won't hurt and Ian, gosh Ian. She stood at the door and locked it. She let out a sigh, she was going to do it and then never again.

She turned with a small sigh and walked back to the chair as she played with her fingers.

He perched on the edge of his desk and stretched out his hands as she got closer, she placed her hands in his and he slowly pulled her in-between his thighs, her other hand slowly dragged over his steel thighs, He looked into her eyes as his hand cradled her face bringing them closer to his, he tilted his head and softly placed his lips on hers, she moaned as an heat filled up her body, there was just something about kissing him, it was different from Ian, he took his time, he kissed her like he loved her, like she meant everything to him at the moment. He trailed warm kisses down her neck to her opened cleavage and then looked up at her, his dark eyes staring at her.

'you're fired' His deep voice said, her eyes fluttered open she stared in unbelief taking a step back.

'Excuse me?' she asked stuttering in shock.

Ben grabbed a white envelope and handed it to her staring emotionlessly at her.

She collected it slowly.

'Is this because of last night?' Sophie said an edge of pain sliced into her voice. She wasn't going to cry she swore inside.

'You've done a good job so far Sophie, finding another Job won't be so hard' He said coldly as he went back to his chair

Sophie stared speechless as her eyes welled up. She stumped out and closed his door. Her eyes met Paul as the tears fell, he had a pitiful look on his face as his eyes fell on the paper. Sophie hurried to the toilet to cry, she shouldn't have done it, he was a stupid arrogant bastard, what did she think was going to happen anyway.

Paul enters Ben's office, Ben rolled his eyes and kept working.

'Did you fire her?'

'yeah' Ben replied coldly

'Because you slept with her?'

'Do you want something paul?' Ben asked, his voiced raised.

Paul raised his hands 'She's hardworking, she's an asset. Transfer her don't fire her'

Ben said nothing and kept working. Paul sighed and left with a small bow.

It wasn't the first time Ben was firing his secretary for sleeping with him, but Sophie was too hardworking to let go, no one could do so much work under so much pressure like sophie.
Paul understood what the silence meant, it could be him agreeing or him not wanting to worry about it, he just wanted to not see her again.

Paul sat in his desk and stared at Sophie's table. He was going to feel her absence more, he wrote out a transfer letter and signed it in his name, it was enough to get Sophie a good post in another branch.

Sophie walked back in looking better, she walked to her desk and started packing. Paul walked up to her.

'Hey' Paul said and sat down

'i'm packing up already' Sophie said without looking up.

Paul rolled his eyes.

'Look, you're not the first one he's done this too, Ben has issues even a blind man will know that. You're not fired'

Sophie's eyes lit up

'i wrote a transfer letter to a branch upstate, you'll be fine.'

Sophie was glad she still had her job but she was moving too far, what of Ian? It was good she hadn't started feeling anything serious, she nodded thankfully at Paul.

'You're very hard-working Sophie, that's what is saving you right now' Paul said back to his cold self.

Sophie nodded forcing a smile.

Sophie moved upstate, hoping to start anew, she would never make such mistakes again. She lost contact with Ian, deleted her account on the dating site. If they were meant to be, they'll find each other again.
