Year 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It wasn't long after I sat down when Harry was on the stool. I could hear the sorting hat speak to him, saying that Syltherin would be a great house for him to be in. Though, Harry ended up being sorting into Gryffindor with his friend. Dumbledore raised his glass to Harry after he sat down. I didn't really pay attention to the others that got sorted; it didn't seem anyone else was either. The whole room was talking about Harry Potter and how he survived the Killing Curse. I don't blame them, it is quite impressive. A boy with black that reached his shoulders sat next to me and looked down at his hands nervously. I could tell he might need a friend.
I stick my hand out to him and say, "I'm y/n Harris."
He looked at my hand and took it, "Michael Corner."
"Michael, I think we're going to great friends," he smiles while nodding in agreement.
We talk for a while before the headmistress tapped her spoon on her glass, "Your attention, please."
Dumbledore stood up and spoke loudly, "Let the feast begin."
Heaps of food appeared in the table, surprising Michael and I. I grab as much food that could fit on my plate, Michael laughs at my small pile. Everyone had dug in by now; I look across to the Gryffindor table and see Ron stuffing his face. I quickly dug into mine, my stomach growling at the smell of food in the air. This earned me another laugh from Michael. Scowling playfully, I tell him eat his food and he does just that. Half way through eating, the castle ghosts appear from many directions, they all laughed and floated around.
I hear Hermione's voice from the Gryffindor table, "'Nearly' headless? How can you be nearly headless?"
I recognized the ghost she was talking to, Nearly Headless Nick. He looked at Hermione while saying 'like this' and pulled his head to the side to show his nearly cut off head. They all cringed and so did I. Seeing that caused me to lose my appetite so, I scoot my plate away from me. Even when desert came around, I didn't touch any of it. Michael took notice of that and started talking to me, which I was very grateful for.
Not long after everyone was finished eating, we were lead by one of the older years to our common rooms. We took the right while Gryffindor took the left. I wave Hermione goodbye when I spot her and she returns it. Our older year warned us to be careful since the staircases change direction. I looked around and saw the people in the paintings moving, like they were alive. Within a few seconds we reach our common room entrance. There was a painting in front that gave the older year a riddle, which he answered loudly what the answer was for others to hear. The painting moves out of the way and we walk into the common room.
The older year stops us and points at two stairwells, "Boys, you dorms are on the left and girls are on the right. You'll belongings have already been brought up."
While everyone was starting to leave, I turn to Michael, "Goodnight Michael, I'll see you at breakfast. "
He smiles while looking at the other boys heading to their dorms, "Goodnight y/n."
I walk to the right stairwell, passing many doors before I see my name on a small sign next to one of the doors. Sighing, I step inside and see four other girls rooming with me. They were all laugh and talking with each other, I don't think they noticed me yet. I walk to the only bed left, it was on the right of the door and the last one in the order they had the beds in. Sitting down on the bed, I immediately take my shoes off. A thud rang through the room as my shoes fell to the floor. This caught the girls' attention and they turn to me, I smile at them.
