After ten minutes my butt was sore from sitting in the uncomfortable, plastic chair, my leg was starting to bounce and I was glancing at my Port every three seconds to check for any updates. But as always, there were none.
Every time my shoe hit the marble flooring a quiet ‘tap’ sound was produced. I was getting a few annoyed looks from the other people in the room, so I stood up and started pacing.
I glanced down at my watch again and muttered some things that my parents wouldn't be proud of.
Come on Ben, I thought. How long does it take to grab a stupid file?
He had said five minutes was all the time he needed, not fifteen. God, I was stupid to trust him to get it.
I tapped the screen of my watch and it changed to my schedule of the day. A groan escaped my pressed lips when I read that I had training with Pretchett first. I swiped my finger across the screen, flicking through the rest of the day. My frown grew increasingly bigger as I continued to scan through my schedule.
I tapped the screen three times and it shut off. As I let out an annoyed breath, my Port lit up with a message.
‘In storage room. -Ben.’
I frowned again and shook my head slightly, my hair falling in my face. What has he done now?
I pushed myself out my seat and walked towards the door quickly, trying to look semi normal as I raced out of the room. I made a left at the end of the hallway and stopped at the door that had ‘storage room’ written across it in giant black, bold letters.
I shoved open the door and as it swung open a loud grunt came from the other side of it.
"Tristen, you've made your grand entrance, now hurry up and close this blasted door before I burn a hole through it." The words came out slightly jumbled and it took me a moment to realize that Ben was squished up against the wall. I chuckled and grabbed the metal handle that was cool under my fingers.
“Only if you say please.” I teased.
“What?! No!” He started to push against the wooden door, but I was leaning against it so it wouldn’t budge.
Ben sighed. “Fine. Whatever.” I heard the irritation in his voice. “Please.” He mumbled quietly.
I laughed and pulled the door closed and landed in the door frame with a soft click.
I turned around and I was greeted to an angry faced Ben.
“What on Cosmyd was that for?” He whined and fixed up his disheveled hair.
“That was for making me wait for fifteen minutes when you specifically told me it would only take five.”
He glared at me and I took it with chuckle.
I could hear footsteps approaching on the other side of the door, so I turned around quickly, flicking the lock on the door before facing back to Ben who now had an impish grin on his face.
"What are you so happy about?" I asked and raised an eyebrow at him.
"Wouldn’t you like to know?" A smirk claimed his mouth and I squinted at him, trying to figure out what happened and it took me moment to put two and two together.
