Heavy footsteps came from outside my door. Class change. I slung my backpack over my shoulder which was kind of heavy due to the items I needed to get to Constance Manor. Leaving my room, I sighed, I couldn't believe I was doing this over some girl.
I walked with the small crowd, but made a right down another hallway instead of going straight. I made a few more turns before I reached the front gate, opting to taking the back route instead of the main one.
I ducked into a toilet and changed into the security guard outfit that I had picked out earlier. The shirt hanged awkwardly on my muscly frame and the pants were a little too small. Hopefully no one would notice that it didn't have badge identification printed on the side.
I shoved the ridiculous cap on my head, wiping my hair from eyes and put my backpack back on. I walked over to the guard on duty that kept watch at the gate. He was leaning against the wall lazily and when I got closer I realised he was asleep.
I rolled my eyes. Too easy.
"Oi!" I yelled and he snapped out of whatever daze he was in, pushing himself off the wall a little too fast, which caused him to stumble a bit. I suppressed a smirk and took a quick look at his name tag.
"Wh-what?" He mumbled, rubbing his eyes a bit.
"Nicholas, your shift is over." I stood a little taller, trying to make myself look important.
He squinted at his watch then counted the time on his fingers. "But I've still got another two and a half hours," he protested.
Crap. I didn't think of this.
"I-," I paused, trying to find the right words. "I don't have a shift today and you look like you could use a break, so I'm offering to swap with you." Please say yes, I prayed.
Nicholas tilted his head to the side, trying to see if I was bluffing. When he realised I'm not, a grin spread over his face. "Yes." Is all he said before he turned to walk away. Before he could get very far I swiped the key card off his belt. He didn't feel a thing and kept walking away.
"Time for the tricky part," I mumbled. I tapped the card on the pad and a high pitched beep was produced. I whipped my head to the side to check if Nicholas heard it but he was already around the corner.
I breathed a sigh of relief and pushed open the gate, walking outside the school. I didn't bother to change back into my regular clothes but I did take the cap off and tossed it in the trash.
"I can't believe they make them wear those things," I muttered.
I took off into a sprint, running down the drive way. The academy was in the middle of nowhere and away from prying eyes, so I ran off, faster than any normal human could, feeling completely free for the first time in a while.
I reached the main road quickly and slowed down to a regular jog. I passed a car park and considered stealing a vehicle since I learnt how to hot wire a motorbike a little while ago.
After wondering around for a few minutes I found a beautiful jet black motorbike.
I looked at it longingly for a minute before shaking my head and walking over to it. I pulled off the cap at the front of the bike and expertly rearranged some of the wires to get the bike started.
