Love In The Shadows

~Chapter 5~

Meliodas' P.O.V.

I woke up feeling relaxed, as I hadn't slept like that in weeks. Not to mention chandler didn't report anything so it seems my brother and my mother are getting along. I changed into a clean white collared shirt with a green colored vest on top with three buttons running down the middle. I then changed into some green pants that stopped around my ankles and put on some brown shoes. When i was done, i looked out the window to see the sun starting to rise. That's when I felt that something was off. I could sense a large amount of light magic energy. I haven't felt this energy in over a century not to mention its magnitude. I decided to follow the trail of energy as the last thing I want is one of those bastards showing up. As i followed the trail it led me to Elizabeth's room and then to Merlin's lab. I opened the door to Merlin's lab on to see Merlin doing some type of experiment with Elizabeth. "What the hell are you doing!" Merlin got up from where she was sitting and told me to be quiet.

"Now then what do you see lady Elizabeth." I looked over to see that Elizabeth's eyes were closed and was still wearing her nightgown. "It's dark, I can hear a few voices but it not clear." Can't I ever sleep with out anything going on. It was then, when I heard Elizabeth scream in pain. My protective instincts kicked in and I quickly went to her side. That's when I saw it, her eyes. Her eyes were orange with the goddess symbol, how is that even possible. As I grabbed Elizabeth to keep her from falling she whispered something to me. "You look the same even after 233 years." How did she know that, The only person who dose died 233 years ago. After she said that she passed out. I grabbed Elizabeth and went to her room to let her get some rest. After that I went to Merlin to see what the hell exactly happened. "Calm down will you."

"Calm down, YOU EXPECT ME TO CALM THE FUCK DOWN WHEN SHE JUST TOLD ME SOMETHING ONLY I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT." I was beyond angry but this didn't faze Merlin at all. "Look last night I felt a surge of magical power, i followed it to her. There's no denying that she's back but something wrong must have happened in that time." What did she mean by something went wrong. The person I fell in love with shouldn't have been reincarnated until 2,000 years from now. If she were to be reborn before then she could have experienced some type of permanent memory loss or her goddess magic would be gone. "Merlin can you head up to the goddess realm and see if you can find some type of records of the people who where born 233 years ago?" I need to investigate this matter further, as somethings didn't add up. "Why I would be glad too." In a split second Merlin teleported away. I went back to Elizabeth's room to see her sleep peacefully. Only one other person knows of what happened that day, and I'm gonna regret talking with them. I left Elizabeth's room and went to mine to grab my cloak. While putting it on I went to my brothers room, where I found him. "I'm heading out, I'm leaving you in charge and have Gelda watch over Elizabeth."

"Still going there I see, just be carful. I don't trust that goddess." I could tell that he was concerned but I told him not to worry about it. I also told him that merlin won't be back for awhile and then I took my leave. I left Edinburgh and flew down south to the entrance of Istar. I reached Istar in the afternoon as the distances was about the same to Liones and I was in a rush. If I'm correct he should be there today as its her anniversary. It was a long flight but I needed answers.

When I arrived at my destination the gate to Istar was already open. I walked through and was met by Jenna and Zaneri, both the leaders of the druids. "Well it's about damn time you showed up, and here I though you forgot." I was about to sarcastically laugh at Jenna for even thinking that but I held my tongue. "Is he here yet?" Jenna was about to say something when Zaneri cut her off. "Of course he's here. He comes every year like you do." And with that I left towards my destination. The path was a dirt road surrounded by plants. When I got to where I needed to be I saw him. "Well if it isn't the king of the vampires and the demons." And here I thought I would be able to talk to him in a good mood. I took a white rose from the ground and made my way towards her grave. I kneeled down and placed the rose on top of her gravestone. "why wouldn't I be here, its Elizabeth's anniversary after all Mael" I glanced over to my right were Mael was and noticed that he was visible angry like all the other years. "Don't you even dare utter her name, you murder." When he said that, i had a brief flashback of what happened on that day and how I killed her with my own hands. I was about to lose it when I remembered about the other Elizabeth's current condition. "I hate saying this but, I need your help Mael."
