Joe

It's now Monday. Demi and I couldn't hang out over the weekend because her mom wanted to have a girls' weekend. I didn't mind, I understood. They probably didn't really have that kind of time to do something happy just the three of them when they lived in Texas. I walk out to the bus stop with my brothers.

Demi smiles when she sees me. She runs across the street and hugs me. We both laugh and I hug her back. She's still smiling when we part, "I need to talk to you today." I say.

"Okay." Her smile slowly disappears.

"C'mon. Let's take the car, then we can talk in private on the way to school." I outstretch my hand and she takes it. I open the car door for her and then go around to the other side. I wait until we pull out of the neighborhood before I start talking, "So I need to ask you something."

"Okay. What is it?" She asks nervously.

"Well, let me just start with this...The day I first met you, I had feelings for you. I know that we haven't known each other for a long time, but I was just wondering if you would be my girlfriend?" I ask. There's a long pause, "If you're not ready--"

"No, I need to start trusting people again, and I trust you. I'd love to be your girlfriend, Joe. I feel the same way." She smiles. I smile, too. I take her hand and bring it to my lips.

I turn into the parking lot for the school. I go around and open the door for her. We walk into the school while holding hands. I couldn't be happier right now. We walk to Demi's locker first so she can get her things. Then we walk to mine, where we me up with the others, "What's that?" Miley points to out hands that are still together.

I smile, "I've asked Demi to be my girlfriend--" I start.

"And I said yes...obviously." She finishes for me. I smile at her and peck her lips, causing her smile to go imposibly wider.

"Awww, you guys are so cute together!" Dani squeals. I look over at Demi and see her blush.

"We should get to class." Demi leads me away from my locker and to our first class.

"Okay, okay. I think I know where I'm going." I chuckle. I take her backpack from her and carry it for her.

"Why do you always do these kinds of things?" She asks when I open the door to our classroom for her.

I walk over to where we usually sit and put her bag down by her desk, "Our parents always taught us to be gentleman, and to respect women." I shrug.

"Well, they did a good job." She kisses my cheek, and I can't help but smile. I've seriously never felt this way for a girl before.

Lunch time eventually rolls around. I meet Demi at her locker, and we walk outside to meet up with the others, "I'm just saying I want to get out of here as soon as possible." I hear Miley say.

"What did we miss?" I ask.

"We were just talking about what we want to do after high school." Kevin fills me in.

"What do you want to do, Miley?" Demi asks her.

"I'm not exactly sure. I've been thinking about acting or something like that." She answers, "I kind of wish I could figure it out so I know what to do to get out of this place. I'm so sick of high school." Miley sighs. Demi nods her head in understanding.
