"And how did that make you feel, Cass?"
We all sat around, books in our hands watching the blonde flick through her pages carelessly. Like Cass, everyone was very much over the task of discussing what they'd written about. Everyone but me who felt internalised fear as I remember ranting about Rowan and his mysterious girl with the eyeshadow.
I glanced over at him.
There he sat; staring into space again. He didn't have his book, I wasn't shocked. He didn't look like he gave a fuck about these tedious tasks Abria set us. He didn't give a fuck about most things. He most likely didn't even realise I was now sat opposite him once more, not beside. I was on a mission of silence, not that he cared. I chose to sit opposite him in some kind of silent protest. I had no idea if it was working, but in my head, he was completely shocked, angry.
As angry as I was when I saw him with her. Arm over her shoulder, fingers linked. Skin to skin.
"Pretty shit," Cass stated, "I mean, like, he was my guy, you know? I was half a virgin when I met him!"
The pimply boy shifted in his seat, a smirk on his face. Cass shot him a look of disgust. "Right, right... half a- right," Abria nodded, "Well um... perhaps you can take that anger and process it in a way that can help solve the situation than make it worse."
Cass nodded, "Yeah... Yeah, I guess so."
"Great! Could you give me an example of how you could do that in a positive, mature and healthy way?" Abria beamed.
"Slit his fucking tires."
Rae laughed aloud. I smiled, trying to keep my laugh in as Abria looked stressed. Lost for words she just let out a sigh, "No... no," She scribbled a note. I had no idea what she was writing, but she always did that. Every time we replied you'd see her scribbling away. Like we were her study, rats in a cage.
"Thank you, Cass," Abria said, "We will get into that further once you've thought more about the situations and processed your feelings fully. Yes?"
Cass shrugged and blew her gum into a bubble, replying in a sharp pop.
"Will," Abria turned to me, "Care to talk about how your journal is going. Anything you wanted to share?"
I looked at her, shaking my head.
Nothing. At all. Nothing about how much I liked Rowan or Abria was useless and probably a scam artist who conned people into thinking she was a 'therapist'. I could've come up with some bullshit. But I plead the fifth.
"No," I said.
Abria nodded along, after Cass it was clear she had given up dragging things out of us and wasn't keen on hearing anymore rants about cheating boyfriends and virginity. So she spared me and moved on-
"Um, what?"
Abria stopped addressing the redhead girl, "Cass?"
"He can't get away with not saying anything! Not anther week! The kid barely talks!" She pointed at me, her mouth agape.
"Cass, if people don't want to talk-"
"Fuck that, I didn't want to talk!"
Abria took a deep breath and closed her eyes, "Yes, Cass but he is new."
Cass crossed her arms, "We gotta talk at some point or why is he even here?"
I suddenly found myself defended by an unlikely person; Rae. I looked over at Rae leant forward, looking at Cass, "Well you can definitely tell why you're here, Naomi Campbell, but he said he doesn't wanna talk so back the fuck off of before I get a year on tag for smacking your face."
