This story takes place after Legacy. Not reread or edited because I didn't feel like it 🤣. Also, sorry that the title is weird, I didn't put much thought into it because I wanted to write the one-shot.

Sophie heard a groan and a shuffle from the cot beside her. She groggily sat up to figure out what was making that sound.

Sophie had been getting barely any sleep because Keefe still hadn't woken up from his coma, even after a whole week. Her heart felt empty with his absence. She was beginning to realize just how much she needed Keefe. He was always the one who held her together. The one who kept her from breaking down every time something traumatic happened. She needed him most right now, but he wasn't there. Sophie kept thinking she could hear Keefe tell her everything was going to be alright, but then she realized he was still asleep.

She had been drifting away from her friends and her duties as the leader of Team Valiant. She just couldn't handle all the stress and drama without Keefe. Things with Fitz had also been pretty awkward, but better all at the same time. She didn't want to get back together with him because she liked being friends more. It was so much easier to rely on him and trust him when she wasn't his girlfriend. She still loved him, yes, but maybe it was a brotherly love instead of romantic love.

Sophie also agreed that when people called her oblivious, they were 100% correct. She didn't even realize that she loved Fitz like a brother, how did she not know her own feelings? She had also never realized that Keefe loved her until she had started to look at all the memories they had shared. She saw the way he looked at her, he looked at her like she could be the only girl in the whole world. She realized that all the times he joked about her being cute, he meant every word of it. She didn't know if she loved Keefe, but she could tell that there was something deep in her heart for him, something she had tried to bury but couldn't completely cover.

Someone's whispering brought Sophie out of her thoughts. She started to look and see who had spoken. When she looked around the room she saw that Keefe's cot was empty.

"KEE-!" She screamed, but someone covered her mouth before she could finish yelling his name.

The person covering her mouth whispered, "Don't worry Foster, I'm right here." She bit her captors hand in an attempt to get away, but then she realized that he had said Foster. Only Keefe calls her that.

Sophie threw her arms around him and they both toppled off her cot. She whisper shouted, "Keefe!! Your awake! I'm so sorry I bit you, I thought you were trying to kidnap me. Are you okay??" Keefe had landed on top of Sophie and she let out a grunt.

"Don't worry, Foster, I'm fine, but are you? Have you been getting any sleep?" Keefe asked Sophie as he untangled himself from their heap on the floor. He then offered a hand to her and she took it, wincing at the pain in her back from when they fell off her cot.

"Um, no," Sophie knew there was no point in lying to an empath, she had tried it way to many times.

"I know what will help!" Keefe said with his usual smirk on his face. Sophie had missed that smirk so much. "We should plan a prank to show everyone that the Keefster is back!" He then did a fist pump.

Sophie giggled at his idea, but when she thought about it, his idea might take her mind off some things. So she reluctantly agreed.

The planning took a while, but they eventually agreed that Sophie would call everyone to the healing center in the morning, saying that Keefe might be waking up. Keefe would put a life-sized statue of his dad laying in his cot, so he wouldn't be in the splash-zone. When everyone walked into the room and went to go see Keefe all the mallowmelt that Sophie and Keefe stole for the secret cafeteria would fall from the ceiling, on top of them. While all of this was happening they would hide in a compartment behind a painting in the Healing Center. It was a flawless plan.

They had gathered all the materials and put tons of mallowmelt in a net on the ceiling of the Healing Center. Everything was ready, Sophie just had to call everyone.

It took 30 minutes to call everyone because Sophie had to convince them that this wasn't just another false hope. Everyone was supposed to come in 15 minutes, so Sophie and Keefe climbed into the compartment.

There was barely any room for 1 of them, much less 2. They somehow managed to fit, though. There was only and inch of space between them, and they uncomfortably looked at anywhere but each other. Sophie had decided to stare at one wall, while Keefe stared at the other. There was a long awkward pause before either of them decided to speak.

"So, um, Foster, mow long did you say it will be before everyone comes?" Keefe asked.

Sophie replied, "they said it will be 15 minutes, but it might take longer. It is the middle of the night, you know."

"Oh yeah," Keefe said, "they're probably doing something boring like sleeping."

There was another awkward pause, and this time Sophie broke it.

"You know, Keefe, I really missed you," Sophie barely breathed out. They both turned to look at each other and it was like time stopped.

Sophie admired the faint blush Keefe had on his cheeks as he looked at her in awe. How could he not see that he had been the only thing keeping her together. How did he not know that he meant the whole world to her. How did he not believe that she missed him, he was gone for a whole week for goodness sakes. How did he not see that Sophie loved him.

It was like Sophie's heart changed rhythm as she repeated those three words in her head over and over. Something deep in her heart became clear. She had loved him since the start. She had always loved Keefe Sencen, and only Keefe Sencen.

And with that it was like an invisible force drew their faces closer and closer to each other. They stopped when their lips were millimeters away from each other. Sophie could feel Keefe's warm breath on her face and his arms that had started to wrap around her waist. Sophie then closed the distance.

When their lips met it was like fireworks erupted everywhere Keefe touched Sophie. Her heart and mind finally collided. Sophie melted against Keefe's warmth as their kiss continued. After what felt like an eternity of bliss, they pulled away for air. Sophie didn't want it to end, though, so she pulled Keefe in again.

That's when the painting slowly opened, by none other than Fitz.
