tears ran down the small girl's face as she sprinted down the endless white hallways. her heart was beating out of her chest as she ran past row after row of cages. "get back here you little rat!" snarled one of the erasers as the girl narrowly escaped his grasp. she quickly turned the corner and saw it, a tiny window only just big enough for her to squeeze through.

she shrieked as a bullet whizzed past her head, missing her by mere inches. her feet landed with a thump as she jumped on top of an empty cage that was stationed below the window. she quickly glanced behind her shoulder and gasped in horror as she realized that the wolf-like men were only a few hundred meters behind her. the girl's fingers ached as she tried to pry open the tiny window. just as the erasers were within arms reach the window opened with a click and she squeezed out. she painfully fell onto the grass below. she hopped up almost instantly and surveyed her surroundings.

there was a huge concrete wall topped with coils of barbed wire surrounding the building. the only exit was guarded round the clock by armed men. if she wanted to escape she'd have to find a way to get over the wall, luckily for the girl she already had a way over. she hesitantly unfurled a pair of silvery-grey wings. she stood in awe as the feathers caught the moonlight and almost glowed. the young girl snapped back into reality as she heard voices approaching around the corner. the two men's flashlights were getting closer and closer to where she was standing.

she was desperately trying to remember how to fly when one of the guards dogs barked. her eyes widened and she backed up against the wall and held her breath. "What's he barking at this time?" one of the men grunted. the other man shrugged and they continued on past her. the girl took a deep breath in and then exhaled. she began to desperately flap her wings, finally, she was able to hover a few feet in the air and then come back down. the girl was surprised the white coats hadn't found her yet but, she knew they were close behind.

the girl rubbed her puffy eyes and stated flapping her tiny wings as hard as she could. after a few moments, she was already ten feet in the air, a few more minutes and she'd be able to get over the wall. but her luck obviously ran out and a large group of erasers holding guns charged out of the front entrance. They split into groups and started to search the yard. the girl tried to contain her heavy breathing but it was an impossible task. The wind whipped her face as she slowly got higher and higher.

the next few moments were a blur as she managed to get high enough to see over the 12ft wall, suddenly someone spotted her hovering and they began shooting. she dodged bullet after bullet but it was getting harder by the minute. she knew the only way she was going to get out alive was to go over the wall and fly as far away as she could. the sun was begging to rise and she would have admired its beauty if it wasn't for the bullets whizzing past her.

the girl stretched her wings out a little more and shakily flew over the coils of barbed wire. she continued to fly toward the sunrise. I did it I'm free! she thought to herself, sadly that joy only lasted a few seconds.

her scream echoed through the chilly morning air as a bullet pierced the child's shoulder and she started plummeting towards the forest below...
