Hello, sorry for the long wait I have exams coming up so I have been very busy, but anyway this chapter should be a shorter one, it's just really to link the last chapter and the next one.

I hope you enjoy, and please leave a comment (preferably criticism but any will do, maybe anything you want to see in future chapters )

Thanks again for reading

Sherlock opened his eyes slow, the bright white light blinding him for a second, he blinked and the room he was sitting in came into focus. It was white and sterile looking and he was lying in a warm but uncomfortable bed, a hospital then.

His head throbbed and his ribs hurt like hell, he groaned as he lifted his head to have a better look at the room, a couple of chairs sat near the door and on one of those chairs sat John, a thin blanket draped across his shoulders. Blue-green eyes met brown ones.

"Sherlock, your awake." John said looking intently into Sherlock's eyes.

"Brilliant deduction as always, John" Sherlock smiled although it looked more like a grimace.

John took a deep breath "look, Sherlock" he said, licking his lips nervously "about what you said. About what I said. Sherlock I...."

Just at that moment a smiling nurse walked in and John turned his gaze to her "Ah, Mr Holmes you're awake, excellent. My name is nurse Charlotte. We have been monitoring you since you arrived, and I'm pleased to say you look good so far and you didn't have hyperthermia like Dr Watson feared" she looked kindly at John before returning her gaze to Sherlock "now you're awake we would like to do a physical examination, just to make sure nothing is broken and your all alright, is that ok?"

Sherlock, who had been looking at John the entire time nurse Charlotte had been speaking, finally tore his eyes away from his friend and looked at the nurse

'Boyfriend cheating with best friend-John-, worried about mother who is ill, probably with the flue-John-, owns a large grey short haired cat-John-, had a cooked breakfast this morning-John-, but ate it in a hurry-John-'

"Urr, yeah, that's fine" he replied slowly, shaking his head once to clear his thoughts.

The examination took a surprisingly short time. While the doctors prodded and poked him John watched, concern etching his strong features every time Sherlock winced.

"Well I'm happy to say nothing is broken, you're just a bit bruised but, Dr Watson" Charlotte said turning her attention to John "if you or Mr Holmes develop anything unusual or even a cold it doesn't matter how mild, go straight to a doctors and get tested, goodness knows what you picked up in that filthy water"

"Yes, right" John said returning his attention to the young woman "are we free to go or do you need to keep monitoring him?"

"I think Dr Watson, due to the fact that he had been stable this whole time and you are a doctor, it will be safe to go home. We have collected your details, right?" Charlotte asked

"Yes, I filled in the sheet when we first arrived" John said as he stood up.

Sherlock untangled himself from the blanket and swung his long legs off the bed, grimacing as his bruised body wined in protest "Can we go now, John?" Sherlock huffed impatiently.

John smiled, it was reassuring to see Sherlock acting like himself, even if that meant he was acting like an arsehole

"yes Sherlock, let's go home"
