(A/N: As you have understood from the title of this chapter, this is an alternate chapter, with an alternate sequence of events, an alternate plot, and a couple alternate characters. Credits to @sand_hanitizer07 for giving me a plot!
Also, this chapter is kinda short.)
Mia glanced back at Emma, who nodded. She picked up the envelope and walked back to Emma. The envelope was made of very old paper, almost like parchment. There was a letter inside. It was written in slightly large, and untidy letters. Mia read it aloud;
To whomever finds this letter,I may be long gone when you might be reading this. I have written this letter to clear a up a very queer incident that has occurred in 1924.
"1924?! That was about a century ago!" said Emma. Mia nodded, wordlessly.
If you go through the newspapers of last year, you will find out that in 1924, a girl named Susie Smith disappeared. Susie was my best pal. She had lived a happy life, so her disappearance was a mystery to everyone. Everyone, except me.
Mia gulped.
No one knew why she had mysteriously disappeared that night, in the darkness of the night of 18th May 1924. I was the only one who knew, but I never told a soul. Because no one would believe me. No one had, and no one will. Except perhaps you.
That morning was as normal as could be. We had both come to school together and attended our morning classes. All was well, up until we were heading home. On our way, we saw an odd man following us. He wore dark clothes and had a pair of dark black spectacles upon his nose. He also happened to be carrying a rather large briefcase in his arms. He started at me and Susie, and for a reason best known to himself, started at our hands. We were confused, and since my parents weren't home, we headed to Susie's house.
We had just been talking about the man, when Susie's parents had go out on an errand. We bade them goodbye and resumed our discussion. After about a quarter of an hour, we heard some noises downstairs. 'Did you shut the door after our return?' I asked Susie. 'Yes!' she exclaimed, slightly frightened. 'You saw me, didn't you?' We decided to look from the bedroom window, which had a clear view of the front door. The same man, dressed in black clothes, was doing something funny with the doorknob. Suddenly, and to my and my friend's surprise, the door opened!
The man slowly walked inside our house. Our only option was to lock ourselves in the lavatory. And that we did. We took turns peeping through the lavatory keyhole, and after a while heard the man's footsteps slowly climbing the stairs. He came into out bedroom and looked around. He finally came to the lavatory door and fidgeted with this doorknob too. Susie and myself were scared to death. This door was thrown open too. We let out a piercing scream. The man grabbed my friend by the wrist and dragged her with him. I was left helpless and scared.
As soon as I regained my senses, I rushed downstairs and out the door and, fortunately, the man had not gotten away yet. He had covered my friend's mouth with a cloth, and was seemingly unaware of my seeing him there.
