I kept spacing out while travelling with Sesshomaru. He agreed to let me travel with them, which surprised me a lot. I thought he'll slice me in half or whatever.

Days passed since Sesshomaru arrived. He sensed that Naraku is nearby so he left Rin and Jaken at the bottom of the mountain. We took the path leading to the top of mountain, he maintained three steps ahead from me.

I remained calm and composed while concentrating with my purifying powers. The mountain is surrounded with miasma and I'm aware that I'm not immune to it. I trust Sesshomaru to take action if a demon suddenly attacks us. He'd easily predict it anyway.

"Are we near already?" I asked, taking a long stride to match his steps.

He threw a quick glance and looked ahead again. "Yes," he simply replied.

His tone sounded like there's something more he'd like to say but I guess it's not important since he never talked again. I hid behind a tree while Sesshomaru stood beside me, out in the open for Naraku to see.

I closed my eyes to feel the shards nearby. "Seven..." I whispered. "There are seven shards with Naraku." I opened my eyes and looked up at Sesshomaru. His gaze is fixed on the dark cave in front of us.

I decided to take a peek but was suddenly shoved back to the tree when Sesshomaru placed his arm in front of me, his hand squeezing my left shoulder. I held my breath as he lowers his head beside my face.

I think the miasma is taking my breath away...

"Breathe," he whispered on my ear. His voice calmed me, but it was replaced by shock when he encircled his hand on my waist. Lifting me up the ground.

My eyes dropped on the tree we were hiding; it was now destroyed into pieces. The loud crash echoing around us. I tightened my grip on Sesshomaru's shoulder while we float above. His arm is securely wrapped on my small waist.

"You can't fight while holding me," I shrieked upon realizing. "Put me down over there." I pointed the rock sitting a little far from the cave.

Sesshomaru glided in the air, lowering me down on the stone. He stopped for a moment before finally letting go of my waist. I awkwardly removed my hands on his shoulders.

"Thank you," I muttered.

He just nodded and stood there beside me. We looked at the fog of dust forming around us. I can't properly see but I could sense movements. I think Naraku went out of his hiding. The jewel shard is just in the middle of it all, so I guess that is where Naraku is, too.

I aimed my bow at his direction and fired it. The sound of the arrow slicing in the air sounds so familiar, I wasn't able to practice my aiming for a while now. The light of arrow cleared the miasma on its path, the dust started to clear down, too.

"My, my... What a sight, Kagome. Are you now with Sesshomaru?" I heard Naraku's stupid voice ringing inside the thick fog of miasma. "I didn't know you'd stoop this low, Lord Sesshomaru. Travelling with a human, your half-brother's woman."
