Letty groans as she crumples her paper and throws it across the hall. Hope picks up the wadded notes and then throws it away as she walks over to her best friend. She then sits down on the bench next to Letty and looks at her.

"If you care about him so much that you can't study without him in your life, why don't you try talking to him?" Hope asks, and the other girl sighs.

"And tell him what? I'm sorry that I'm so broken I have no idea what to make of my feelings for you? Maybe it's love, maybe it's not — I don't know." She shakes her head. "Best thing I can do is let him move on and find someone who can tell him that she loves him some day."

She quirks an eyebrow as she looks at her. "You really think that you don't?"

"I think I'm too damaged to know love from my left shoe." Letty says, and she scoffs.

"Okay, drama." Hope shakes her head. "Uh-oh, incoming." She says when she sees Eric walking down the hallway, headed in their direction.

"Eric, my brother. What's up?" Cory gets his attention, and the older boy turns around to look at him. "You throw the party of the year, and I don't know about it. How do you think that makes me look?" He questions as Letty and Hope look up at the Matthews boys.

"Short." Is all Eric says before he tries to walk away from him.

"Come on, Eric. I-I want in on this. I can help you spread the word."

"No. Hey, Cor, this is my party. Okay, I'm a Senior, I'm gonna graduate in a year. I'm gonna make my mark, okay? I'm going out big at John Adams." He tells him.

"Come on, Eric. For once you and I could actually do something together, the two of us — the Matthews' Brothers. I mean, think of how proud Mom and Dad would be." He tries to reason, and his older brother puts his finger in his face.

"Hey, they can never know about this party."

"Oh, and, uh... Who would they hear about it from?"

"Alright, you're in." Eric sighs, knowing that he's trying to blackmail him now.

"Yes!"

"Cor, look, you can't say a word to anybody about this."

"You got it." Cory nods, but then immediately tries to tell Shawn all about it. Eric quickly covers his younger brother's mouth, but then he sees Letty sitting on the bench a few feet away from them.
