*Augustus POV*
I sat on our tribal home's back porch, peering out towards the beach. My mind was racing. "Something feel's weird about that family" I stated, but i couldn't pinpoint why they felt, or smelled, weird.
"That's because macho one and two of that family are werewolves" Briar said as she leaned on the doorframe looking at her younger brother. "They've already shifted"
"But that makes no sense, why would other werewolves be coming here?" I asked, turning my head around to look at Briar.
"That's because they don't know who they are or where they're from" A deep husky voice came from around the corner, Benjamin, the father, walked around the corner. "Remember our oldest story, about the two tribes and the cold ones?" he paused and before got an answer he continued "there were two tribes here at one point, they lived in harmony with each other, shared their lands and resources"
"Yeah and then the cold ones came and started reeking chaos on the townspeople, there was a huge blood war between the tribes and those vampires" I finished my fathers story. "In the story it said that other tribe was all wiped out"
Benjamin cracked a smile and chuckled. "Not all of them, what survivors of the tribe were left, they left oregon with our tribes help and they scattered to the winds"
"So these werewolves are descendants of that tribe? Well at least there's only two of them" I said "not trying to say they're not welcomed, but im weary about them"
"Alexander and Warren aren't the ones to be worried about" Briar rolled her eyes, and i turned quickly to look at her. "Oh c'mon, you can't tell me you haven't thought this through?" Briar raised her eyebrow and sighed deeply. "Alexei and Andrew are also werewolves, and not only that they're twins just like the other two, but they also haven't shifted yet, we have to keep an eye on them because if Alexei and Andrew shift that means vampires are in the area" Briar said as she strolled out of the doorway and into the grassy yard below the porch. "You coming with me Augustus?"
I sighed deeply and rose to my feet. "We're gonna spy on them huh?" I asked and Briar just gave me a sly grin. I shrugged my shoulders and started focusing on the shift. Rather quickly as it started it was over and I rose as a chocolate brown and black wolf. I shifted my weight on my paws and looked to Briar who stood as a snow white wolf, and she nodded her head at me.
We began to race into the forest, running as fast as we can until i hit a familiar scent and stopped in my tracks. 'This scent is of Alexei's' I thought, using our wolf mind link to talk to Briar.
'Okay, you follow that scent, and i'll move around here to see if i can get a glimpse of Alexander and Warren' She thought back and continued on her way.
I softly began to follow the scent through the woods when i saw their house. It was all dark outside and inside so the family must be sleeping. 'But her scent is so strong out he-' he was in mid thought before he finally turned his head to see a figure leaning against the tree. I slowly, and quietly padded up to the figure to see it was Alexei. Her red hair was sprawled across her pale face. She looked so small and vulnerable. Something inside me was telling me to get closer, but the voice was hushed so I had easily ignored it. 'What is she doing out here?' I thought to myself as i looked around to see if anyone else's scent could be found. 'I'm surprised Andrew isn't here' I thought before laying down just a few feet away. 'Does she not know the forest can be dangerous' I silently acted like I was scolding her in my head. I had this dire feeling of needing to protect her that wouldn't just halt or fade, and was a way louder voice.
'August, find anything?' I heard Briar's mind link.
'Alexei is sleeping outside'
'Wait what?'
