Ron hadn't come out of his room in days and all Harry had to say about it was "he's sick" me and Hermione were worried but didn't bring it up again because that's all he would say. At lunch, we were silent like always without Ron there, he may be annoying some times but we all missed him dearly, it had been a solid 5 days of Neville rambling about plants until one day Harry brought up the night of me and Hermiones first date. "It really is true then, that night with Ron"

"The night he punched me you mean?"

"Well when you put it like that-"

"there's no other way to put it Harry" Hermiones voice was trembling

"well you must have done something to make him mad'

"yeah because asking out my girlfriend is such a crime" I rolled my eyes and stabbed the meat on my plate

"you knew he liked him y/n"

"Well then he should've asked me out first" I smiled at Hermione comment looking at the chunk of meat my fork was in.

"I guess you're right, did he really punch you"

"Right in the stomach"  I looked up remembering the pain, not of the punch but because of Ron betrayal
"why didn't you believe us before harry"
"I guess I didn't want too" he looked back at me with sorrow in his eyes
"I never thought he would do something like that"
"I guess you thought wrong then," Hermiones eyes were tearing up as she said it, had I made her soft? she never cried before.

Ron was finally back from "being sick" and everything was back to normal, or as normal as it could be at Hogwarts. Ron was cracking jokes during class, Harry was laughing and got his "brilliant" back, and me and Hermione we together and happy. I looked at Hermione throughout charms class and she looked back and giggled like we always did. Until one day when I was partnered with Ron I was constantly looking up hoping to catch Hermiones eye until I was practically staring at her. "Hey love bug. We're still in class" I jumped at Ron's voice "I know why she's not looking at you ya know" my head never whipped around so fast "what" I whispered through clenched teeth "is she ok?"
"Oh she's fine, it's you that should be worried"

"And why's that" I rolled my eyes

"She's not looking at you because she's thinking about someone else" I looked at him confused with a blank stare

"Wha-"

"Krum the quidditch player, I saw them snogging in the library"
"No you didn't" I could tell my nose was turning red and my ears were burning "you couldn't have. She wouldn't" a single tear dripped down my face and landed on a page in my book. It seeped into the page and dotted several pages below it. "I don't believe you Ron" but I was lying- I didn't know why I believed him but it was like all that had happened in the past year with him was fake. He felt like someone I could trust just like he did when I first met him.

I didn't look at Hermione for the next few hours until I was standing in the dining halls doorway with Cedric by my side. Her brown eyes caught mine and I could see pain in her eyes but I didn't care. It was her fault, it was her fault, I was ignoring her. Cedric laughed as he saw his friends "hey y/n you coming to sit with your fellow badgers" he chuckled like he knew my answer by hearts, which he did I said no every time he asked for the past 4 years, "sure" I don't think I could stand to look in Hermiones eyes again. I looked up at Cedric and laughed his neck was bent forward and his eyebrows were raised in shock. "What was that" I don't think he understood what I was saying "oh you heard me Cedric, let's go" I bounced and started walking towards the Hufflepuff tables like I was back in first year after I got sorted.
