"So, have you found anywhere adequate yet?" A stern voice questioned, though oddly sounding friendly. It came from
a man with blue hair, sharp features and an even sharper eyebrows sat at a table with a coffee clenched firmly in his hand. Sunlight glinted off of his glasses in a way that felt it could slice any onlooker in half.Another with thick emerald curls and youthful face sat opposite, contemplatively staring at his phone.
His fingers impatiently glided down his phone again and again. Each time he scrolled his freckled face fell into more of a delicate frown.
In the middle of this bustling cafe, these two took in none of the noise. The waiter had hesitantly peered at them twice now, but the conversation was so thick with concern that she decided to wait until it lessened before asking if they wanted any desserts.
Despite their tense atmosphere to outsiders, this was relatively quite relaxed to them both.
With the blue haired man you could clearly tell he could hold his ground in debates of all sorts, however the other was a stranger case.
Yes he had a habit of stuttering and not holding eye contact, however he never backed off. He would insist on reasoning his way with an ember in his eye that didn't match his often soft expression. Not aggressive in the slightest, but with an air of purpose instead.
Strong will.
Unfaltering belief that he would not have treated lightly. He was reduced to looking rather embarrassed in the face of a contrasting opinion, but it didn't necessarily mean he thought he was wrong.
Perhaps this shared passion was what bonded the two closest as friends beneath their starkly contrasting postures. The man with blue hair sat proudly upright, like a nobleman almost, whilst the green haired friend hugged the table with his slouch. From an outside perspective it was hardly understandable how they ever found common ground.
"It's no good Iida, there's nowhere that's.. well.." the freckled man fidgeted the fingers of his spare hand. "..Nice. I want somewhere near, but everyone has a place coming out of an alleyway.. it.. k-kinda freaks me out to live in a place like that.."
Iida shifted his glasses and gestured for the phone with a stiff beckoning gesture. "I can understand that, safety is of the utmost importance. I have seen you continue to worry about this for far too long. Let me help you out - as a thanks for last night." His seemingly cold smile warmed Midoriya's heart enough to pry his clammy hands away from his phone.
He knew Iida was trying."To think that you're in your twenties and can't even find a place to live.. what would your mother say to this Midoriya?" He scolded, a hint of jest behind his unforgiving aura.
"I-I know I know.. I need to grow up.."Silence drifted between them. Then, in mere seconds they chuckled it away and began to discuss accommodation once again.
These friends had known each other since the beginning of high school, and now seeing each other go their separate ways and grow up was somewhat frightening.
Well, Midoriya had more trouble with it than Iida. He had already secured his dream job as a lawyer, a stable home, and even found the time for sorting Midoriya's life out when he had no pressing matters to attend to.
In comparison, Midoriya looked like a bumble bee to him as he ambled his way across all his successes and problems. Sure, he had learned a fair amount of skills, but he was barely a toddler when it came to adjusting to an independent life.
"Aaaaaaahh, none of these places feel right at all.." he continued to solemnly whine. Iida cut in hastily,
"What on earth are you talking about, they're perfectly safe!"
"Yes but.."
"But?"
