You walk next to Kili as you follow the Company through the fields at the roots of the Misty Mountains. "It's so quiet." You remark to your best friend. Kili looks at you and shakes his head. "Everyone is just worn out. They don't even have the strength to eat..." He says. "Besides Bombur." You whisper, smirking. Kili bursts out laughing quietly and you giggle.
Thorin suddenly holds up his hand and everyone comes to a halt. "Be quiet." He whispers. Everyone is silent, listening. You hear a strange cry followed by many more. "Orcs." Kili growls. "Move!" Thorin yells. The Company start running in the open field, yelling. Your heart pounds wildly. Kili grabs your arm and pulls you behind a boulder. "Stay here while we fight. Okay?" He says, looking behind him. You hesitate, wondering if you should tell him your secret, then you think better of it. "Okay." You say quietly, as he pulls out his bow. He runs off to join Fili. You swallow and touch your sword hidden in between the folds of your cloak. "If they need help, I'll help them." You whisper to yourself as Orcs and their Wargs come into view. "Oh dear..." You trail off, already knowing the Dwarves are largely outnumbered. You watch as Kili takes down a couple of Orcs and your heart flutters.
In a few minutes, more and more Orcs come. Kili gets thrown on to the ground and is about to be impaled. "No!" You gasp, grabbing your sword. You let out a war cry and start running towards the Orcs. Kili looks at you, wide-eyed. You start slaying the dozens of Orcs before you. The one that's about to kill Kili stares at you in terror as you whirl his way. You grunt and plunge your sword into the Orc's chest, making him moan and fall over. Kili watches you in wonder as does the rest of the Company. You pull out your daggers and start hurtling them at the Wargs. You let out a yell and knock the last living Orc to the ground. He tries to crawl away from you and slam your sword into his stomach.
You take a step back, breathing heavy. You look at the bodies of dead Orcs and Wargs, and swallow, realizing you killed pretty much most of them. You turn around to see the Company staring at you incredulously from many yards away. You start laughing at their faces, feeling a sense of relief knowing that your secret is out. "You're-you're like some warrior!!" Kili exclaims, mouth slipping open. "How come I never knew this?" He asks, standing next to you, looking at you in admiration. "Yeah." You laugh, breathing heavy. "I have never seen anything so amazing like that in my life." Kili breaths. You blush and look to the grass. Kili touches your shoulder. "Where did you learn to fight like that?" He asks. You meet his eyes. "Before my father died, he would teach me how to fight. Growing up with a houseful of older brothers, I had to learn. They used to beat me in every fight. So I worked hard and eventually beat them." You answer.
"You've kept it a secret all along." He says. You nod. "It was better that way. My mother wasn't too proud of me and I didn't think anyone would think too highly of a woman becoming a warrior." You say softly, looking to the ground.
Kili puts his pointer finger under your chin and makes you look at him. "I'm proud of you, Y/N. That is the most bravest thing anyone has ever done." He says. You smile. "That's the bravest thing I've ever done." You admit sheepishly. "Thank you. For saving not only my life, but the Company's as well." Kili says, taking your face in his hands. Your legs shake and your heart races as you stare into his eyes. "Anytime." You breathe.
He eyes your mouth and then meets your eyes again. You flush and he grins.
Kili leans down and kisses you softly. You melt into him and toss your sword aside. He wraps his arms around you and deepens the kiss.
A few long moments later, you both pull away. You cough and put a hand to your flaming cheek. "Wow. Just as powerful as your sword fighting." Kili whispers. You giggle and turn more red, slipping your hand into his. He smiles and squeezes your hand.
While walking back to join the group, Kili tugs on your hand. You look at him and continue walking. "I love you." He mouths. You smile. "I love you too." You mouth back.
[THE END] I hope you liked it!
