THE NEXT DAY...

"So... Yesterday was - " Louis starts to say.

"Don't you dare say 'fun'. It was... Just don't describe it as that," Liam interjects, still avoiding everyone else's eyes. "It was like we were f***ing high. Why did we even do that?"

"Oh, stop being so grumpy, Payno. You should be happy that me and Harry are friends now."

At those words, Harry sputters in shock, not believing what Louis just said. You can't really blame him, though. He and Louis didn't get along from the very beginning; everybody knows that. They all witnessed it. So, for the older lad to just call them 'friends', it really is pretty shocking. And as Harry looks around to see the others’ reaction, it appears that they didn’t expect Louis to admit that either.

Now what am I supposed to do?  he thinks in confusion, trying to catch his boyfriend’s – Can I call him that yet?   – eyes. But Liam is still avoiding to look at anyone. Even Harry.

Which really sucks.

“Uh, y- yeah, Louis. We’re um, mates now, I guess,” he says nervously, hesitantly mirroring Louis by putting an arm around his shoulder too.

He even pats it awkwardly, which he regrets, since it just feels too weird and definitely not natural. Louis doesn’t seem to mind or notice, since he squeezes Harry’s shoulder and beams at Liam. Said lad just rolls his eyes in return, knowing Louis well enough to know he has that annoying, smug look on his face; yet Liam couldn’t help but find it quite endearing actually.

“As long as you don’t do anything to hurt Harry again, or whatever you and him were arguing about back in my room, then whatever.”

“Boo. Payno’s being boring,” Louis whines, pulling away from Harry and walking up to Liam immediately. He practically wraps himself around the brown-eyed lad, trying to get Liam to actually look at him and stop being such a downer.

Trying his best to hold back his jealousy over how affectionate and clingy Louis is being to Liam, Harry just decides to glare that the eldest lad. He hopes Louis can feel how much he really wants him to pull away from his  man. Niall and Zayn notice, only chuckling to themselves as they watch the other three be oblivious to how the others feel at the moment. But they had other things to focus on.

Like the fact that Harry is actually their kidnapped victim, and they had asked for a high ransom from his company for his return.

“As much as this touching moment is getting to me, can we just talk about what we’re gonna do when Harry’s company decides to pay the money?” Niall states, sounding bored and annoyed.

If  they do,” Liam corrects, pulling away from Louis and walking over to the side of the room, where there is a desk with a computer on top of it. Harry is surprised he hadn’t noticed that before, since he’s been staying in this room for almost the full week.

“What do you mean ‘if’?” Louis asks, following after Liam as the other lads do the same. “They’re gonna pay so they can get their boss back. That was the whole plan.”

“Unless they don’t want me back.”

That catches the others’ attention, having them freeze and stare at Harry. He just smiles softly and shrugs as he looks down at his boots. Liam frowns as he walks up to him and makes Harry look up at him so their eyes can meet, but the younger lad feels somewhat disappointing for what he just realized. And he’s pretty sure Liam, of all of them, wouldn’t want to hear what he has to say.
