Alright everyone. I found this amazing short story by @grimmseye on tumblr. This short story is Not. Mine. I'm giving all the credit to grimmseye. If someone says that I took it. I said it wasn't mine. So please enjoy this short story. I'll put the story in italics so you all can know the difference. And remember, THIS IS NOT MINE.

The lab had gone silent. Sans had exhausted himself, giving up on his assault on the cage walls. They remained perfectly intact, his claws unable to do so much as scratch the glass, the blasts of energy from his mouth useless. The walls had been reinforced specifically to withstand magic.

Sans was curled up in a corner now, eyes having drooped shut long ago. His new tail was draped over the snout of his skull, and his ribs rose and fell with every breath.

Alphys stared at him through the glass. Several papers were clutched in her hands."I think he's finally sleeping," she murmured, her voice breaking the others out of their stupor. Undyne jerked upright, but Papyrus was the first to rise. He hurried over to the cage, pressing his hands against the walls.

"Is he okay?" His voice trembled.

"For now, yes," Alphys assured him, and set the papers on a table in a messy pile. "But the longer we keep him asleep, the better."

Undyne nodded, her movements a bit sluggish. She hadn't eaten or slept, regardless of Alphys' insistence and the damage she'd taken from Sans. "Y'see, Papyrus? He'll get through this. And if it looks like he won't, I'll make him." She gave him a wide grin, but it faded when it wasn't returned. "So... what the hell is wrong with him?" She asked.

The entire room seemed to hold its breath. Alphys licked her lips, her claws tapping a nervous rhythm onto the table. For a long time, she was silent. Then she finally said, "This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened. We all know that sometimes monsters can lose control of their magic. It's normally nothing too bad, just a kid that hasn't learned how to hold themself back yet." Undyne grimaced at this, and Alphys gave her a sheepish smile. She continued, "But... very rarely, it can happen on an extreme level. If we were to use an analogy of a dam, the usual case would be a crack in the wall. Some water comes out, makes a bit of a mess, but it can be patched up. In Sans' case though... it's like the entire dam came down."

Alphys adjusted her glasses. She shuffled through the papers, eventually coming up with several diagrams. The first was a silhouette of a monster, a white heart in its middle. Alphys tapped it with a claw. "That's the usual soul of a monster. It's under control, the magic contained but available to be tapped into at will."

The paper was set aside, replaced with another. The new image was almost the same, but with a larger heart and arrows pointing outward from it. "I like to call this a 'surge.' When a monster experiences one, they briefly lose their grip on their magic. Most times they just summon their bullets by accident."

Undyne coughed.

On the next paper, the monster's silhouette was completely white. The lines containing it were jagged, making it almost unrecognizable as the same creature from before. "This is what happens when a monster falls into 'discordance'. Their soul is no longer contained, their magic is wild. They essentially lose all sense of self, just constantly discharging energy. Though in some cases, they have been known to respond to certain people. Friends, family." Alphys' gaze shifted from the paper to Papyrus, and then to Sans' cage. "But while it can alter a monster's appearance, I've never heard of it on this level."

There was silence. Undyne's teeth were clenched; Papyrus was gripping at his own arms.

"He'll be alright, though, won't he?" Papyrus' voice was small, hopeful. "You'll figure out how to help him!"

Alphys gave him a wavering smile. "O-of course!" She bobbed her head. "I just need some time to... t-to..." Her voice dwindled into silence, eyes cast towards the floor.

"I won't lie to you, Papyrus. Honestly, we're lucky we managed to catch him at all. Most monsters that lose control like this are just too volatile, and with that kind of power, that ability to hurt people... they had to be p-put down."

Sweat broke out on Papyrus' brow, his smile strained. "Well, it's a good thing we caught him then—"

"I wasn't finished." Alphys' claws curled in tightly, clenching and unclenching as she forced herself to say, "People have managed to get a few into containment in the past. But like I said, they have no restraint. When they're not sleeping, or eating, they're fighting. Constantly. And eventually, they use so much magic that they just... burn themselves to dust."

I give all the credit to grimmseye. This is their story and please give them credit for their work. This ISN'T MINE AT ALL. So please don't report me for claiming it. Cuz I didn't. I respect everyone's work. Unless the work is mine, I'll say the original creator AT ALL TIMES. If I can, I will write my own little Blaster story, but that will most likely be in my other book. I hope everyone is doin ok during this time! Stay Safe!
