1- I stopped Breathing

"Wake up Nanz, you are getting late for work. God this girl still behaves like a teenager.." I heard My mother's voice rambling just outside my room. Yeah yeah I know I am going to turn 25 in few months but I still live with my parents. Well I might live in America but I am a true Indian by heart.

And it's very common for us to live with our parents whole of our  life and when you have such loving and caring parents then why not. I had a very important meeting today with a client to discuss the case. Let's get going Nanz. I did my morning chores hurriedly and got ready in a  semi formal attire. 

I love getting all dolled up in these Business clothes, for today I chose a black blouse, nude shade pencil skirt with black pencil heels. I tied my long chocolate brown hair in a loose ponytail. I am not a very makeup kind of a person so I just painted my lips in a matching nude color and applied a liner on my big dove eyes. 

After giving one final glance to myself in the mirror, I finally stepped down. Dad is in the hospital and I guess Mom just came back in the morning. I settled down on the dining table when my phone starts to ring. "Good morning Nanz, where are you?" I smiled at the caller, Caroline Forbes my business partner and my another best friend. "Hey Car, I am at home just taking breakfast.."

"You can never wake up early girl can you?" I smiled sheepishly, now she knows me. "fine just finish your breakfast and come directly to Zenith, I will see you there I have heard the owner himself is gonna handle this. So make it quick Okay.." I told her I will be there on time and after bidding her bye concentrated on my food. I guess Mom went to sleep.

It's been 2 years since I started my own law firm after practicing for few months under  renown lawyer where I met Caroline, she was a intern just like me. We were in different high schools but in same year. I am glad I met her, in just these 2 years she became an important part of my life. Belle was so jealous when she first get to know about her but when they both met they hit it off really well.

Now they even hang out sometimes without me. Strange but true. Belle and Rosen have recently moved back to California from Sydney after taking their medical degree and now working in my Parent's hospital. They want to open their own but right now they need practice so my parents took both of them under their wings. They have rented a apartment near the hospital and are living their happily. 

7 years of them being together but everything is same. Rosen loves her as much as he did in high school and same goes for Isabelle. I am happy to see both of them happy. Time flies right. It seems just about yesterday when we all were in high school and today we all have entered in our professional lives, struggling to make a name. 

But someone has already achieved that milestone Yes Caleb Jones, Bestselling Author, who thought Caleb could be a writer that too of Romance genre. He was having the time of his life in LA, but he come here sometimes to check on all of us. I have read his work and he is just fabulous. The way he portrays the emotions of his characters is just aww worthy. 

I drive out of my driveway and didn't forget to give a glance to that Mansion. Yes, the same my favorite mansion that has been empty from past 7 years. No one lives there, cause they never sold it off. So Many people wanted to purchase it but I heard the family never want to give it off. Maybe in a hope that someday they will come over again. But nothing of such happened in past 7 years, I don't see it happen anytime soon.

My phone rang again, "Car, I am on my way will be there in no time.." I told her. "Fine I am already here, I am waiting for you at the reception.." with that I disconnected the call. Normally we both don't go in a meeting together. Cause we both handles different clients. We have our separate teams to work with. But according to Caroline this is important. This company Zenith whose parent company is in somewhere in UK, has recently opened here. 

Car said that this is very prestigious organization and having them as our permanent client can be very beneficial. I guess she is right, cause right now in our kitty we have very few big names and that also because of our parents. But this is the first time  someone has asked for us, when they don't even belong from this town. They are outsiders But Car have heard that the owner is moving here to grow his Business. Well fair enough.

I speed up and just in few minutes I reached my destination that made me stunned. I haven't seen such a beautiful company before. The interiors of outside were this good than imagine what will happen inside. I parked my car and made my way inside. It wasn't a very huge building but a three story with mesmerizing interiors, well it has to be after all they are a designing company. So they have to present themselves in a good way to get the attention of clients.

And Just like I assume the inside is as beautiful as outside, I spot Caroline sitting there with an impressed expression. I immediately moved towards her.

Nanz - Hey Car

Caroline - Hey Nanz, finally you are here. See this place look damn good Isn't it?

Nanz - Yeah I can see that. Well that just means they are good at their work.

Caroline - Well definitely they are and scratch that, I have heard about the owner who is sexy as hell.

I scrunched my nose in disgust, seriously Now she is into older guys. "Seriously Car that guy would be around your Father's age have some shame.." She face palmed herself. "You never googled the company name, did You?" And I bit my lips on that, I totally forgot. 

"I told you always collect all the information about the client before meeting them. And if you would have done that then you would have known, the owner is not some fifty year old baldy, but it's a guy of our age. Young, Handsome, sexy and very very hott.." Caroline and her attraction to the hot guys. I never understood. She is a hardcore romantic but still single. The best thing about her according to Belle is that even after getting her heart broken few times, she never gave up on Love. She still believes God has made some one special for her. I wish I could be like her.

Receptionist  - Are you from Law tigers?

I know I know cheesy right, well it's Caroline's choice can't help it. Atleast she didn't chose Cats instead of tigers.

Caroline - Yes we are

Receptionist - Please come with me, Boss is already waiting for you.

We both exchanged the confident smiles and  followed the reception. Okay Nanz it's show time. We passed an empty corridor and then the lady stopped at a glass door. She opened it and gestured us to go inside. I could see three people sitting on the big table. it's a meeting room I guess. Well it was quite huge. My gaze lingered here and there when it finally settled on a back of a Man.

Standing leaning at the window with a Cigeratte in his hand his back toward us. I don't know why but he seemed familiar to me. 

Caroline - Come on Nanz

I look at Caroline and started moving, when one of the seated man said in a loud voice, "Sir they are here.." He put the Cigerrate back in the ashtray which was their on the window sealing and Took out a bottle of something from his pocket I guess. He popped a mint in his mouth and turned around taking my breath away. It feels like I stopped breathing for a second.
