As we drove closer to the old mill, the soothing feel of the moon's light along with the music during the ride gave us a quiet moment with each other. As the road forked and we went on the dirt road, headed to the concert and stopped at the gates, I quickly find a parking space nearby a camper that was selling souvenir t-shirts and other merchandise for the people that were attending the concert, I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt as I opened the car door and opened the other door for Cynthia.
That's when I saw it..her smile, her eyes, everything..she glowed in the moonlight she looked stunning, my heart skipped a beat and I froze up, my hands clenched by my sides as I felt my face heating up and felt a drop of sweat rolling down my cheeks onto the ground as I tried to strike up a conversation with her, she stood there looking at the moonlit forest behind the old mill.
She looked at me as she placed a strand of her glowing hair behind her ear, I was speechless and then I heard it, she giggled and smiled "The band we're seeing is not until this one's over, so we have some time to kill, why don't we just sit at the fire pit and get to know each other better?" I let out a soft exhale, trying to hide my over-excitement over her offer, and just grabbed her hand before dragging her to the log seat near the fire pit "Consider this payback Cynth!" I said jokingly before looking back at her smiling widely like a doofus.
When I opened my eyes I saw it...I saw her blush and the cute little smile that made my heart thump and beat even faster than before, at this point...I knew that I had feelings for her, I was already imagining our senior year together with the other art club members. I took a seat on the log and patted the empty spot next to me, telling her to sit there as I looked at her "So, how long has this 'art club' of yours been around red~" maybe it was the adrenaline coursing through my veins and the serotonin rushing into my head but I felt like I could do anything at that very moment.
She looked at me and smirked before saying "and why would you like to know hotshot?~" I laughed before sighing softly "It's just that I've never been in these sort of cliques or any clubs actually" I sighed again before leaning closer to her and laid my head on her shoulder and slowly made a fart sound before she pushed me off her shoulder gently and said "Hey! don't to that!" she laughed and chuckled. "I've been stuck with those two since elementary Mel, you think they're at the peak of dumbass? nope, they always surpass that point when you get the feeling that they can't possibly do anything stupider, especially Austin..scratch that it's always Austin."
She chuckled and laughed before looking at me and asked "why did you enroll in our school anyway?" I sighed and looked at her dead in the eyes before chuckling softly "I had to transfer because of my mom's job...it's why I moved to this little town" she looked at me looking relieved before jokingly saying "I'm glad that you're not some criminal kid or something, Oh oh!! the band is prepping let's go in!!" she grabbed my wrist as I instinctively stood up and followed her inside.
Looking around inside the old mill, it was more lively than ever! It didn't seem abandoned at all, I was surprised to see this because the old mill seemed like it was in shambles and uncared for but the people who party here clearly know the importance of keeping everything quote on quote, up to standards well at least keep everything from falling apart. I saw her going to the bar and grabbing us a bottle of beer each I looked at her and chuckled "Seriously? who's gonna drive later?" she looked at me blushing, slightly embarrassed from her mistake as she drank one of the two bottles, I looked at her "Hey, Cynth..mind if I join you?" I smiled at her and chuckled before grabbing the other bottle and sipping it slowly.
"Hey...Mel? thank you for coming with me tonight.." she smiled at me, and looked into my eyes, and leaned closer "the band's about the play, wanna head upstairs and see it from the balcony?" she said to me as she held out her hand to me and led me upstairs slowly to make sure both of us won't fall through the slightly rotted wooden stairs. I sat down near the edge of the platform and I could see everything! the lights, the band, and the fucking mosh pit! "Fucking hell Cynth! this spot rocks!" I smiled at her full of excitement! and hugged her without even realizing it, she blushed as I looked into her mesmerizing emerald eyes that shone from the moonlight as I leaned in closer and rested my head on her shoulder.
"Thanks for being the first person who came up to me" I smiled and chuckled as held me close to her, I felt ecstatic and I know she does too, she smiled at me and kissed me on the cheek before whispering "Thank you, Mel..for being here" she smiled and chuckled before standing up and dancing "Come on! dance with me!" she smiled and pulled me up to dance with her as we danced we saw to familiar people show up "Hey Cynth!" Austin looked at us bringing Ross with him, as both of them saw us get lost in the music and join our little party.
"Oh hey, Austin! I see you brought Ross with you" Cynthia smiled and chuckled before pulling out her phone and pulling the four of us closer together and took a selfie of us. I blushed and tried to hide my face as the others laughed happily as I sat on the edge overlooking the pit filled with people bumping into each other and dancing as Cynthia walked behind me and sat back down next to me and handed me another bottle "come on! we're just about to carve out initials here" she handed me a pocket knife "It's Austin's knife, I didn't bring it don't worry"
