One thing I've learned about Jay; he's a terrible driver. He did about fifty miles an hour along a thirty mile speed limit. He didn't stop at about six red lights and he nearly crashed into someone while they were on the zebra crossing. How did he pass his driving test?!
As soon as Jay stops the car, I sigh in relief and rub the back of my head. Jay chuckles nervously and rubs the back of his neck. He apologises and then climbs out of the car. I climb out and then lift my cart out and place it on the floor. Jay locks the car and leads me up the path towards the house.
Jay's house is a small two story house with white fences lining the path leading up to the front door. I carry my cart up the three little steps and Jay opens the door and leads me inside. Jay leads me through the giant living room and towards a small door at the back of the room.
"Come on, I'll show you my lair," Jay says, gently taking my hand.
I feel my face burn with that small action. Jay opens the door and lets go of my hand. I try not to look to disappointed from the loss of contact. Nya pull yourself together! You've just met him! Jay picks up my cart and leads me downstairs.
As we reach the bottom of the stairs, the first thing I spot is the giant TV pressed against the back wall. There is two gaming chairs in front of the TV, both of which have gaming controls on them. There is a display cabinet against the left wall, which is full of trophies. As I look over to the right side, my eyes widen in surprise. There is a woodworking table with different tools scattered across it. There is a shelf above it, displaying some small animal sculptures. As I look closer, I see blueprints laid out, being held down by some of the tools. I walk over and read the title on the top of the blueprints. DIY Braille Printer. I turn to look at Jay, who is staring at me.
"You like inventing too?" I ask excitedly.
"Heh, yeah. I've been doing it for years."
I look back to the table and see a small pile of wood on the very right side of the table. I look at the notepad next to the table.
Parts I need and how much they cost:
•Arduino Mega- $16.80
•RAMPS board- $18.75
•Stepper Drivers- $6.95
•End Stops- $8.39
•Servo Motor- $18.90
•Steppers- $6.29
•Lead Screw Rods- $20.68
•Pillow Block- $11.63
•Linear Bearings- $13.70
•Coupler- $16.80
•Power supply- $32.27
•Printer carriage- $26.66Total = $197.82
"Wow...this is amazing!" I turn back to Jay, who is blushing softly and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Heh, thanks."
Jay sits down on one of the chairs. I follow and sit in the second one. He turns to look at me.
"So...you know a lot about me, but I barely know anything about you."
I smile softly and lean back into the chair. It's actually very comfy, unlike the gaming chair Kai has at home.
"I have Stage IV Thyroid cancer and metastasis which is now forming in my lungs. Hence this thing," I gesture to the cart. "And I also have metastasis," I then go on to explain what they are.
Stage IV Thyroid cancer is cancer that has spread beyond the thyroid to the soft tissues of the neck, lymph nodes in the neck, or distant locations in the body. Metastasis is the spread of cancer cells to new areas of the body, often by way of the lymph system or bloodstream.
Jay leans back in his chair more. "You're so strong for getting through it and continue to fight."
I smile softly and also lean back, staring at the ceiling. I close my eyes. The silence isn't awkward, which is what I expected, it's nice and calm. However, it doesn't last too long when I feel Jay poke my arm. I open my eyes and looks over at Jay.
"Want to play fist to face?" Jay gestures to the controller in my lap.
"Sure."

It's been three days since I've met Jay and since then, we've been messaging everyday. I haven't told dad or Kai because they'll both be super overprotective and probably won't allow me to talk to him again. I've told mom and she absolutely adores him."Hey Nya," I glance up and smile as Pixal stands in front of me.
"Hey Pix, ready to go?"
Pixal nods and holds her hand out. I take it and she pulls me to my feet. She loops her arm through mine and she leads me through the mall. I keep a gentle grip on her arm so I don't lose her in the crowd of people.
"Lloyd has his surgery this week, am I correct?"
"Yeah...it's not for another four days though," I reply.
"Is he nervous?"
"I'm not sure, I haven't really spoken to him."
After a couple of hours shopping I head home.

It's been a week since I met Jay. Today is also the day of Lloyd's surgery. I'd messaged him earlier but he'd never got back to me.I use most of the day to catch up on some work which I needed to catch up on. Kai has also invited Skylor over again so I actually get to see her this week.
"Sky!" I jumps into her arms and hug her tightly.
I feel Sky laugh and hug back, gently rocking me. I wrap my arms around her in return. I hear Kai clear his throat from behind me.
"Can I say hello to my girlfriend now sis?"
I reluctantly let go of her and pull a face when Kai kisses her. I sigh and head to my room, knowing I won't get to see Sky too much today. I lay down on my bed and stare at the ceiling.
I must have drifted off because I wake up to my phone ringing. I blindly reach for my phone and turn it on to see Jay calling me. I immediately answer.
"Hey Jay, everything okay?"
"Hey Nya, I need your help. Like right now. Can you come over?"
Hey guys, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I feel like I rushed it a little bit. Hope you're all staying safe and well.
