There was a knock on one of the tinted windows, indicating that there was no longer a need to be on edge.

Long ago in a neighborhood watch meeting, it was discussed that all residents must knock on the windows rather than the doors.

The rule was put in place to differentiate those among us from visitors and other people who happen to stop by.

Taeyong, being the closest to the entrance, made his way down from the ledge and turned on the light before removing the baracade.

He opened the door, revealing Haechan standing beside two men in uniform.

I lifted my head after hearing the nostalgic ring of my name being called, which resulted in a nod of acknowledgement from one of the officers.

"Come with me," he directed, already setting off towards the set of police vehicles. Haechan and the remaining officer stayed in place, going over the shed with their flashlights.

I got up, stumbling over myself as I maneuvered my way towards the exit. I felt multiple pairs of eyes on me as I left, especially the burning sensation of Taeyong's as I passed his fuming self.

I glanced at Haechan, who bore the same remorseful expression that the rest of us shared. i'm sorry, he mouthed, earning a pitiful smile in return.

The two of us had been the first to come across the resting corpse of my mother, who had held the meeting that we were all forced to flea.

He watched as I bathed myself in the pool of her blood, screaming incoherently while shaking her by the shoulders, pulling her hair, doing anything that I could to possibly spark life within her, but to no avail.

He was the one who brought me to the shed before rushing back to round up the others, we haven't seen eachother since, so it was a relief that he was alive.

However, I hadn't a clue as to who the second body belonged to.
