Hope stood in front of the microwave in Lydia's house. She had only been there for an hour and already wanted to go home. Her wonderful night started with Lydia trying to get Allison to talk about Issac and Kira to talk about Scott. Kira was nice, Hope liked her, she just didn't really know how to do the whole friend thing. The pack helped her but that didn't change the years of isolation Hope had grown accustomed to. The beeping of the microwave drew Hope from her thoughts.

"So Hope, you heard anything from Derek?" This was Lydia's first question when Hope got back to the living room.

"Derek?" Kira asked.

"This guy Hope was seeing last year. He left town cause of some family issues." Allison explained.

"Nope and I don't expect to anytime soon." Hope hoped that would end the conversation, but she knew that Lydia probably wouldn't leave it at that.

"No calls, no texts, nothing? He seemed pretty serious about your relationship." Allison was the one to chime in this time.

"Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't all I know is that he's gone. It's not like it's anything new. People leave and I moving on with my life. I, mean, a relationship right now wouldn't be a good idea. Kol and Marcel would kill him, being a Mikaelson makes normal relationships kind of hard." Hope let out a bitter laugh.

"Is your family really rich or something?" Kira questioned as she ate a piece of popcorn.

"My family is complicated. I don't know what I was thinking, I guess I just wanted to believe I was someone worth staying for."

"You are worth staying for Hope," Lydia wrapped an arm around her.

"I haven't known you long, but I know that if this Derek guy can't see how awesome you are than it's his loss." Kira smiled at Hope.

"So," Hope cleared her throat, "where are the guys tonight?" She turned to Kira, "Issac and Stiles like to crash girls night."

"In the woods, doing something stupid." Was Lydia's simple response as she popped 'Legally Blonde' into the DVD player.

It was about half way through when Hope got a call.

"Hello," She answered when she got to the kitchen.

"Hey, sweetheart." Hope smiled at the familiar accent.

"Auntie Bex, I've missed you." Hope leaned against the counter.

"I've missed you too love. I was just talking to Freya, she happened to mention that you may be having slight boy troubles and as someone who has had many, many boy troubles I thought I may be able to help."

"Well, I appreciate the offer, but it's simple really. He was here than he wasn't, not much more to say."

"And he is?"

"Derek Hale," She took a deep breath. "It's really not a big deal." Rebekah could tell that Hope was more upset than she let on but she knew not to push. This was one of the moments she realized just how much Hope needed her parents. Hayley would have known just what to say and Nik would have hunted this Derek Hale to the ends of the earth.

"You know that I'm always here if you want to talk."

"I know, it's just hard. It doesn't help that Dr. S called a few days ago, he wants me to come back to Mystic Falls for Remembrance Day. He said Caroline has something she wants to give me." Hope explained.

"You should go sweetheart, take a break, you could use the time to go through some of the stuff at the old house." She had a point. After Hayley and Klaus died Hope spiraled a bit and seeing her parents' things didn't help, so Rebekah and Freya moved some of their things into the Mikaelson Mansion in Mystic Falls. But it wasn't just the things at their home, it was also the things her father had left littered around Europe, mainly his paintings. It hurt too much for Hope to see them and so she never did. Rebekah had told her that many of them were of Hope and her mother, of their entire family. Hope took a shaky breath as she realized that she needed to see them. She needed to come to terms with it, she thought she had but leaving their things boxed up and collecting dust wasn't moving on. In all honesty Hope knew she needed to do this one way or another. Lydia had offered to come with her so maybe now was the time. She'd have her friend there to help her deal with it all.

"I'll go," Hope answered in a quite voice, "one of my friends offered to come with me. Lydia will help me.".

"You let me know if you need anymore support. You know Marcel and I would be there in an instant if you needed us." Hope smiled at her word.

"You so much as breath my name,"

"I know."

"I know," Hope took a deep breath, "but I think this may be something I have to do with out the family."

"This weight is not all yours to carry, Hope. You're so much like your mother in that way, independent and willing to carry the weight of the world so others don't have to. Just know that when you need us we will be here. Always and forever, my sweet girl."

"Always and forever."
