Nothing Good is Easy

Hope tried her best to walk confidently into the school. Almost as if it would erase the previous night, she knew it wouldn't but she really couldn't think about that. She had barely slept and was trying to figure out how to return the stranger's burning a hole in her book bag. Even though she didn't want to, it was really comfortable and smelled good. Hope's cheeks turned red at the though which she immediately pushed from her mind. She had one focus today, to avoid Scott and his friends.

Hope found her task to be relatively easy as the whole group had skipped the day, like Hope should have. So here she stood at Scott's locker after the school had emptied out debating if this was a god choice. Upon the conclusion that she didn't have any other, Hope used a quick spell to open Scott's locker and stuff the jacket inside she closed it and locked it with a similar spell. That was it. Her involvement with whatever supernatural shit was going on in Beacon Hills ended there.

"How the hell am I supposed to act normal? She a wolf, like a literal wolf, and we have first period with her!" Stiles was beyond confused. Derek said she was a witch and everyone else said she was a wolf. All he knew was the she could most likely kill him and he now had to sit next her for a whole class. With a sigh Scott turned and opened his locker. Derek's jacket tumbled into his hands.

"How evil can she be? She returned the jacket." Scott shared this new revelation about Hope with Stiles who groaned and walked away. Scott stuffed the jacket into his backpack and followed after his friend to the locker room.

"So, any update's on Sabrina the teenage witch." Isaac was fashionably late as always and coach started to rant before Scott or Stiles could reply. The group made their way outside.

"Oh my god!" Stiles, who had been ahead of the others, turned to them with a groan. "She's on the track team." he was just done with this. Scott and Isaac turned to look at the group of teens waiting to start practice where Hope stood stretching.

"Once again I ask, do we know if she's gonna try to kill us?" Isaac asked as he turned towards Scott.

"I don't think it's a coincidence that a were-witch, or whatever she, showed up in town right after the killings begin." Stiles shared his theory as they made their way to the starting line. Isaac, however, wasn't paying attention. His focus was on the twins before Stiles or Scott could stop him Isaac took off running after them. Scott followed close behind leaving Stiles with the 'were-witch'. Which was just great.

He had just focused on running the other two could deal with the all the supernatural shit, Stiles would stay with the attractive witch. Well, that is until they came across a body. Before he could react to what happened he was being pulled aside by Scott and Isaac.

"It has to be the twins. I mean, they attacked me and then killed the woman who saved me." Isaac refused to even consider anyone else making Stile launch into a rant about how it was most likely human sacrifice.

"What about Hope, she's a witch and sacrifices are a witchy thing!" Stiles concluded.

They left the practice with more questions than answers, so they made a plan. Derek. He would have her trust after helping her the night of the full moon so he would have the best chance of getting close to her. Scott texted Derek to tell him the plan. He would find Hope after school and find some way to connect with her. Stiles was particularly wary of this plan as it required Derek to be charming and sociable neither of which he was known for.

"Why I am I the one doing this again?" Derek questioned over the phone as Allison gave him a play-by-play of Hope's movements. Hope was, of course, aware of this but decided she'd let it play out. It wasn't like they could over power her.

"Just do it." Lydia, who was quite against the plan, interjected. She had almost every class with Hope and had grown to like her. A groan sounded on the other line before they were hung up on.

He was beyond pissed, but he owed Scott and if he was being honest he wanted to see the auburn haired beauty again.

"Hey, it's Hope right?" he jogged up beside her. "I just wanted to ask if you were okay, after what happened a few days ago." He really was trying to make this sound natural.

"I'm alright, it's nothing new for me. You, however, were in worse shape then me." She laughed a little.

"Well being a werewolf has it's perks." She nodded in agreement as they walked in the direction of her car.

"It must be nice, being a born wolf. No curse to trigger, no breaking every bone in you body." Hope had a distant look in her eyes.

"Are you a cursed wolf?" He questioned, she nodded silently.

"My mother was the alpha of the Crescent pack." For some reason Hope felt comfortable telling Derek all of this.

"If your a wolf, then how can you use magic?" Derek couldn't help himself, he needed to know.

"It's complicated, but in short I am a first born Mikaelson witch. My grandmother practically invented black magic and I guess the magic in our bloodline was strong enough to defy the laws of the supernatural." Derek recognized the Mikaelson name but thought it would be best to ask about that some other time.

"As fun as this has been," she turned to him when they reached her car. "So ask what you came to ask." She opened the back door and threw in her book bag. When she realized that Derek either didn't know what she meant or was unwilling to ask. "I didn't kill those people, but I may be able to help find who did." She tore some paper out of her notebook, "Here's my number. Let me know if you want my help." With that she left him.
