After Katherine and Elijah helped each other get over what Esther had done to them, they went back to normal. Then someone emerged. Klaus didn't believe that she was their long ago elder sister, but then he heard her story, as well as the fact that Katerina had known all about her for some time. Katerina had been selfless and had helped her return to her siblings, knowing all too well what it was like to feel alone. So, he finally came to believe her. Freya's arrival had even changed Mikael's behavior. Something that had died with Esther's lie about her death was awoken. Now, the siblings that had seen nothing but brutality from Mikael for more than 1,000 years saw something else. He became kinder much like he had been when Freya had been a little girl. She was the apple of his eye, after all.

About a year later, a vampiress Kat had never heard of before came to the Quarter. That's when she learned that Klaus surprisingly had an ex. Aurora and Klaus had once been each other's equals. Elijah had stepped in, though. Aurora wanted payback for that. Now, here she was in a life and death situation. This time, she couldn't save herself.

Elijah, Klaus, Rebekah, and Freya stood in the compound. Aurora had blurred off with Katherine a while ago before anyone could stop her. Rebekah just hoped her crazy childe wouldn't kill the former doppelganger. Klaus, on the other hand, was ready to do anything to ensure Katerina's safety. Elijah and Klaus both knew that this was past Elijah's fault, though. She was going to get her revenge by any means possible. She just couldn't let go of the past. They didn't know where to look, though. There were too many places to hide in New Orleans. Freya couldn't even locate her, because she was cloaked.

Elijah began to leave, tired of sitting around waiting to see what Aurora would do next.

"Where are you going?" Klaus inquired.

"I'm not going to sit around to find out where she has Katerina," Elijah answered his hybrid brother.

"That's not a good idea," Rebekah reminded him.

"You're not going alone then," Klaus replied, willing to help Elijah find Katerina, no matter what the cost may be.

"Are you two mad?" Rebekah inquired. "She may be a lunatic, but she's still a smart strategist. We can't find Katherine on our own, so you might as well go straight to the horse."

"If you're so worried, maybe you should take Kol with you and we'll split up to find her," Klaus replied.

Rebekah couldn't believe how much of idiots they could be sometimes, but knew she couldn't stop them from going out by themselves without backup.

"Fine. I'll see if I can find Aurora," Rebekah said. Then she watched, as both Klaus and Elijah blurred off.

Meanwhile, Katherine was injured from Aurora's pet in transition vampires, but also from Aurora herself. She had awoken and realized that she was in some kind of crate shaped like a possible coffin. That's when she realized that Aurora was playing a game to find out if they could find her in time, because Katherine was in the ground and injured. She could also tell that she'd lost a lot of blood from all of her injuries, so she was running out of time to be saved. She just hoped it wouldn't be too late.

A few hours or so later, Elijah and Klaus ended up looking for her in the Bayou, not finding her anywhere in the Quarter or across the river. It didn't take long after that to find her, though. And when they did, Klaus got her unburied. Then the two of them got the wooden crate-like coffin out of the hole and onto the ground, before Klaus broke the lock. Elijah then opened it up, which was when they saw how injured she was. She'd obviously been injured before being put in there. They then got her on the ground and Klaus untied the ropes around her wrists.
