They said it was a simple issue, just wait for evacuation and protect the scientists. I was stationed with a detachment of ODST's and army personnel, we were tasked with holding the landing zone for the Pelican's to pick up the researchers and some equipment. The radio chatter went silent as a Covenant Corvette loomed overhead as if stalking and observing our movement.

"Hunter eyes up," Provost huffed out as I got my helmet on my HUD switching on as I grabbed the anti material rifle expecting banshee's. There was a rather large explosion from the facility interior, I looked behind me only to see several Grunts and two Brutes charging at us. Firing the large rifle at the Brutes first I managed to eliminate one, the other tackled Provost and nearly impaled him with the massive bayonet on its spiker. Turning my rifle towards the Brute I fired from my hip into it missing two shots but hitting with the final round killing it. I threw the rifle to the ground and dove for the spiker and turned it on the grunts finishing off the assault force.

"About damn time, come on get those egg heads in the transports now," Ian yelled out as he and some army troops prodded the scientists into the Pelicans. I then took notice to one of the scientists ranting on and on about leaving a science AI in the station. I shook my head, it would've broke protocol if we left it.
"We don't have time, we have to go," Ian sighed as I shook my head.

"I'll retrieve it, give me five minutes," he said only for him to look at me with this look of disbelief. He waved me off as if giving me permission. Rushing back into the flaming structure I immediately took notice of a terminal with a chip in it. I broke into the room and went dead silent taking notice of an Elite Zealot.
"Olga, get in the chip now it's time to go," I muttered to the computer removing the chip and inserting it into my helmet's interface.

"Such a... strange thing, I wasn't designed for combat you know," the AI retorted a bit sarcastically.

"A lot of things can be adapted, just keep me posted on hostiles," I muttered as I rushed out managing to dodge plasma fire. I managed it into a Pelican just as several Elites along with the Zealot rushed out firing on us. The pelicans veered away and towards the atmosphere locking the airlock shut. I took a moment to breathe and sighed a bit. Just as soon as the flight began the Pelican I was in shook violently indicating we were being hit repeatedly.

"Brace we're going in hard," the pilot yelled as the console in front of him exploded killing him instantly.

"Hang on to something," Olga screamed into my head as the pelican colided with the ground.
