Being in the FBI is something you've always wanted. And despite all the odds you actually did make it. But it still wasn't enough for you. You wanted to be a profiler for the BAU. Everyone was hesitant to let you in the FBI because well... you're deaf. No, you can't hear but you can speak and sign and read lips. You didn't need to hear to be a profiler. You don't even need a gun to be a profiler. Only you had to convince one more person. Agent Aaron Hotchner, the BAU unit chief. Penelope was your cousin so she recommended you. Soon after joining the FBI you, J.J. and Emily had become best friends. Morgan teaches your training classes and your the best in his class. You can't imagine the parties you, Penelope, and Derek have when you get together. Reid and you have have started your own Doctor Who fan club. (It consist of only You, Reid, and Penelope). Even David Rossi has become you mentor over the years but you still needed to prove yourself to Aaron. The whole team has been trying to convince him but he still has doubts. It's not like your not friends with him though. In fact he often says hello to you or sends a small smile your way as he passes through the office. He's even learnt a few signs from you the few times you spoke. Emily however is now fluent in sign language of course. Reid can manage pretty well too and J.J. picks up a few signs here and there. Derek, Penelope and Dave were all pretty much lost causes.
You gave them all sign name of course but they had a secret code name for Hotch. It was the sign for "H" and the sign for "Boss" combined. You think he might be be catching onto them though cause he squints at you suspiciously when you and Emily signed to each other across the room. They were mostly talking about him though. It was no secret to the team that you had a major crush on their boss. How could you not? He's freaking gorgeous. Today however, was the day you were going to convince him to let you join the team...hopefully. You guys had it all planned out.
You were going to corner him in the conference room and get on your knees and beg cause you didn't know anything else to do. Not really but you are going to try. You signed to Emily that it was a go and she gathered the team. You all stood around the round table and Hotch walked in. He furrowed his brow. "What's going on?" He asked with a sigh. He threw a case file on the table. You placed your hands in a prayer position and gave him your best innocent eyes.
"Please let me join your team, Aaron," You begged. He stared at you all and you felt like melting into the floor but you held his eyes. You didn't know wether to be flustered or scared.
"Agent (Y/N) may I see you in my office a moment?" He asked. You nodded and he turned around and walked off. You signed "Help" to the team and they signed back "Sorry". Well at least they knew that sign. You jogged to catch up with Aaron and his six-foot legs. He told you to have a seat and he closed the blinds to the office. He sat on the edge of the desk and looked down at you.
"You are aware of the specific requirements it takes to join this unit right?" he asked.
You nodded and pulled out your file from your purse. "Here are all of my assets and test grades and requirements," You handed him the file. He opened it and read over a few pages with raised brows. He looked back at you before he spoke. He was always careful to make sure you could you could see his lips before he spoke. Others weren't so nice.
"You aced nearly all the requirements?" He asked. You smiled and nodded.
He sighed and placed the file on his desk. "The truth is (Y/N) I'm just worried about you," He admitted. You raised your eyebrows.
Did I read his lips correctly?
He smiled a little. "Yes you did," He answered. Crap you said that out loud.
"I...I don't understand," You said. He bit his lip.
"The thing is... I like you, a lot okay and this job is extremely dangerous for people you can here and I don't want you to be killed and-," you cut him off with a kiss.
"Holy crapola!" You broke apart just in time to see the rest of the team scatter back down the stairs. They had been watching from a broken blind. The comment of course had come from Garcia. You scratched the back of your neck and turned to Aaron who looked red and at a loss for words.
"So uh does this mean I'm on the team or that I should quite my job right now?" You asked. He cleared his throat and fixed his suit and hair.
"You start tomorrow but in the mean time...are you doing anything tonight?" He asked. You smiled and shook your head no.
"Seven?" He asked.
You nodded,"Seven."
