Damon's POV
"Damn," I mumbled to myself. I thought I was asking her something important, but she just left after saying goodbye.
Nobody ignores me—I'm the one who ignores others. They always wanted my attention, but she left without a word, and now I’m left wondering if she’ll ask how her friend got my number. I should be concerned; God knows if my number got leaked. I hope not, especially since I have so many important documents saved on it. Anyway, I shrugged it off and got ready for bed.
Goodnight.

I woke up the next morning and went through my usual chores. After breakfast, Chloe and I headed to school. Chloe was acting strangely today. First, she asked if I had slept well, which is a weird question to start with. I replied with a simple "yes," and then she asked if I was excited about going to school. Who gets excited about school? I frowned and replied, "No."
"Hey, did you chat with anyone last night?" Chloe asked, her excitement almost palpable.
"No," I said, trying to figure out why she was so curious about this. Why would I tell her about the strange number?
"Really?" she asked, a hint of disappointment in her voice.
"Yes, why would I chat with someone?" I raised my eyebrows, suspicious.
"N-no, you don't have to... just asking." Her face was a mask of nervousness.
I knew she was lying. She only stuttered when she didn’t want to tell the whole truth. But I decided to let it go. If she didn’t want to share, that was fine. After we arrived at school, we parted ways. As I walked towards my class with my friends, I noticed Chloe with her other friend, Rose. It looked like Rose was scolding Chloe, who had a guilty expression on her face. When their conversation abruptly ended, Chloe clamped her hand over her mouth and quickly left, avoiding eye contact with anyone, including me. I could read my sister like a book, and something was definitely going on that involved me.
After school, Chloe was unusually silent as we headed home together.
I freshened up when we got back and checked my messages. There was one from a stranger.
Emily
"Yeah, my friend Rose got your number, but I don't know from where. They didn’t tell me."
Damon
"Okay, but let me know if you find out. I need to ensure my number didn't leak."
After that, I figured it was time to start working on my school projects.

Emily's POV
I woke up to Ollie and Molly licking my face and hands. I giggled, "Okay, okay, I'm up!" After a playful chase with them, I got ready and headed downstairs for breakfast. We then crammed into Xavier's car.
"Sis, can you help me?" Xavier asked, his voice slightly shaky.
"Sure," I replied.
"Um, actually never mind," he stumbled nervously.
"You know you can talk to me, right?" I said, noticing how uneasy he seemed.
"Yeah, but it's nothing," he said, shaking his head.
"Are you sure?" I pressed, but he just nodded.
"Okay, then," I said, not wanting to push him further.
When we arrived at school, we separated into our usual groups. "Hey, guys!" I greeted my friends—Rose, Austin, and Chloe—who were already by my locker.
"Hey! What's up? Did you message that number?" Rose asked eagerly.
"Yes, I texted it," I replied, curious. "But how did you get the number, Rose?"
"Um, I just got it. Don’t ask how," she said, her tone nervous.
"Okay," I said, feeling a bit skeptical.
"Why?" Rose asked, her brow furrowing.
"No reason, just that I didn't get a reply, so I thought I’d call the number, and it turned out invalid," I teased, gauging their reactions.
"Oh, really?" they chimed in disbelief.
"Yes! Do you know who it was?" I asked, my suspicion growing.
"No!" they shouted in horror.
"Alright," I shrugged. Austin and I had the same class, so we walked together while Chloe and Rose headed to theirs.
Once home, I decided to text the mysterious number again and got a simple reply: "Okay."

Chloe's POV
"Seriously, Chloe? Are you insane? You just told him that we should message him! Now he’ll be suspicious of us, and if he tells Emily, we’re as good as dead!" Rose exclaimed, frustrated but confused.
"I know! If Damon hadn’t received the message, it might have been a good thing, but I think Emily must have misplaced a digit, so it turned invalid," I reasoned, thinking aloud.
"Yeah, but if..." I looked up just in time to see Damon and his friends heading our way. I quickly placed my hand over Rose's mouth and silently warned her that Damon was coming.
She quickly got the message, and we hurried to our class. Before we crossed the threshold, I caught a glimpse of Damon looking at me with suspicion, while Tylor seemed to have a softer, kinder gaze. I shook my head, dismissing my thoughts as I focused on getting to class.
In my sixth period, I learned that I would be majoring in English, which I was ecstatic about! None of my friends were in that class, so I found it a great opportunity for myself. I stepped into class just as the teacher began to teach, rapping my knuckles on the door to announce my arrival.
"Come in," the teacher replied.
"why are you late" he asked politely
"Why are you late?" he asked politely.
"Um, sir, today is my first day," I replied.
"Oh, well, I am Mr. John, and you can ask me any questions you have about what I've taught the class. Are you Chloe King? I believe I’m right," Mr. John inquired, to which I nodded.
"Take a seat," he said. I looked around and saw that only one seat was empty, which was next to Taylor. I smiled, feeling a little more comfortable.
"Hi," I said happily, relieved to know someone in the class.
"Hi," said Taylor, blushing. I didn't know guys could blush, but I thought it was cute. We started talking and studying together.
After school, I saw Damon waiting for me in the car. I didn’t know what to say, so I remained quiet during the ride home. Once we arrived, I headed to my room and rested; it had been a long day.
