Blood was spilled everywhere, accompanied with the big fire gobbling up the buildings of the once-magnificent mansion. Yet the young girl didn't heed any of it as she kept running.
She saw some people she once knew, her relatives who taught her everything, now unmoving and lifeless. Yet she didn't stop to mourn for them, she didn't even took a glance.
'Karin, go, run far away from here and go to safety. Just focus on running and don't stop, even when you see our family members lying on the floor okay? My Karin is a smart, so I know she'll do as I said, right? Don't worry, we'll take care of those bad guys first. Now, go!'
Even as fire was roaring loudly, along with screams of people and explosions that came as they fight, the only thing the young girl could hear was her father's voice.
'At least one of us has to stay alive...'
The voice of her father who muttered those words was full of resolution. It was as if he knew that even if he fought, there was no way he'll survive, yet he still chose to fight.
The little girl was smart as her father had said. That was why she knew. She knew that they wouldn't be following after her. She knew that would be the last time she would see her family. At least, she would never be able to see them alive.
That was why she kept running without slowing down or looking back.
She had to get away from here. From this place she was once born and made great memories. From this place that was now filled with the aura of death and chaos.
That was the only way she could stay alive.
'Mother... Father... I would never see them again... I want to go back... I want to help them too... i don't want them to die...'
She truly didn't want to go away, she wanted to stay and fight along with her family. She may be young, but she knew how to fight. That was why she wanted to help her family, she wanted to prevent more people from dying.
But she was too weak. She was strong compared to others and talented with fighting, but it was not enough to make difference.
That was why she had to survive and get stronger. It may not be able to bring back her family back, but she would be able to make them rest in peace in the least.
'it's those bad guys' fault... it's because of them... soon... I'll make them pay for it! I'll definitely get stronger! I will never forgive them for this! They shouldn't have done such thing to us! Criminals! Murderers!'
She had to make those people pay back, no, she must make them pay, no matter when or where.
Only fate can tell if it was time for her to ask for their debts.
*********
"Young master, may I come in?"
A knock from the door came along with a middle-aged man's gentle voice, making the young man reading a book by the window raise his head.
"Come in."
He said as he stared at the white door with his obsidian eyes filled with curiosity. A middle-aged man in formal butler attire then came in with quick but calm steps and gave a respectful bow towards the young noble.
"Young master's guest had asked if the you would be able to spare some time for a talk. They said it was because they wanted to show their gratitude for taking care of them. Should I guide them into this room right away, young master?"
The middle-aged man's words made the young noble immediately smile, but he shook his head soon after.
"No need for that. She's still recovering right? I can go there by myself. Continue on what you were doing."
He then waved his hand as to motion the man to leave. The man then gave another respectful bow and walked out of the room.
After the old man left, the young noble looked down at the book he was reading. It was about a person who tried to prevent his and his love one's fates yet failed every single time, no matter how much he kept trying.
'Every time I read this book I just feel pity. Such tragedy... Such thing would never happen if I was the character. In the least, I would never let it happen.'
That's right. He would never succumb to fate or destiny or whatever you call it. He would never allow anyone or anything to dictate his life. He would live as he wanted and die when he wanted.
He closed the book and stood up. Then, he fixed his attire and threw the book to the chair he was sitting on earlier.
'And I have what it takes to not let it happen.'
One of the pieces he needed was already in his hands after all.
