(This takes place two months after the previous chapter, as shown in the title. Yes I'm being sarcastic.)
He screamed at the top of his lungs as he awoke from the horrible nightmare that his mind had created this time, waking everyone in the room and probably in the rooms around his own. He opened his eyes a bit after realizing they were squeezed shut, looking around the room. His closest friend was sitting up and looking in his direction, but for some reason he wasn't bathed in the familiar darkness, but rather that of a deep red. He soon found that the whole room was cloaked in a deep red that allowed him to see better, almost as if he was looking through night vision goggles. He looked back at his friend who was sitting up in his bed, looking very panicked as he stared at the younger boy. Marius tilted his head a bit, confused as to why Bandit looked so scared. The older jumped out of his bed and shook the other two German operators awake, whispering something to each of the two, something Marius couldn't hear. Elias sat up before Monika could even move a bit, staring right into Marius's eyes. To the others, Marius was sitting on his bed, eyes glowing a bright red and deep red and black spiked protruding from his body. His rather pale skin was covered in patches of black and red, some occasionally glowing a bright fiery orange. Marius looked like he was on the verge of tears as he looked frantically at each of his friends, clearly wanting a response as to what was happening. A single trail of what looked to be blood fell from his already glowing eyes, falling onto the navy sheets he was clinging to. The young operator didn't even bother wiping away what looked to be tears as they left trails of maroon liquid as they dripped down his pale face. The other three looked at each other and nodded in agreement. Bandit hesitantly walked over to Marius, daring to put his hand anywhere near the younger man's shoulder. The last thing Bandit wanted was to be infected, especially with the Chimera Virus. Marius had come back from New Mexico about a month ago and he had been cleared from quarantine last week. Gustave had given the green light to Marius, saying that he was fine now, but he clearly wasn't. Not even five minutes after Elias and Monika had left to get the Chimera crew and Doc, the pair had returned with Lion and Finka from team Chimera and the one and only Gustave "Doc" Kateb. Marius was crying as he seemed to realize what was happening, but he seemed to control it amazingly. Lion walked up to Bandit, his yellow hazmat suit seemed brighter than Marius's glowing eyes. The French operator put his hand on Bandit's shoulder, signaling that he would take it from there, but Marius had other plans. When Marius saw Bandit stand up a bit, he grabbed his clothed arm with his pale hand, looking up at his friend with those mesmerizing glowing eyes. Bandit looked over at Lion and he shook his head, Bandit couldn't stay with his younger friend. Bandit looked back to Marius, tears threatened to spill out of his own chocolate brown eyes as he looked at his friend. The tears that spilled from the younger's eyes suddenly stopped as he snapped his head toward Lion, giving him a death glare as he released his grip on Bandit's sleeve. The younger man stood up and walked slowly to Lion as the French man slowly backed away from his infected friend. Finka got ready to tackle the infected Marius as he backed Lion up into a wall, looking very mad. She ran full force at him, but Marius was way too prepared. Being infected made you 100x stronger and more intelligent than any human being. Marius shot his arm out and caught Finka by the throat with talon-like claws gripping her neck, daring to dig into her skin. If Finka dared to move, she would be dead meat. Lion unhooked his pistol and aimed it at the young German's head, and that's when Bandit stepped in, walking in front of his friend, blocking him with his own body.
"Don't do that Olivier!" Bandit yelled at the French operator, covering Marius as best as he could with his height advantage.
"Step away Dominic! He's infected and he could easily kill Lera with how he's gripping the poor girl's neck!" Lion yelled back, his accent was thicker when he yelled.
Marius slowly backed up away from the two, taking Finka with him. Everyone had their eyes on the yelling match between the German operator and the French operator. Finka yelled as she was yanked away by the taller German, barely digging his claws into her neck.
"Stop!" Doc yelled at the rapidly angered Marius, who was now busy creating spider legs to suspend himself off the ground.
Marius didn't listen as Doc ran to him, the infected man just dug his claws into the younger woman's neck, instantly infecting her bloodstream, making her go limp. Marius stood up fully, hitting the ceiling, as the spider legs fully extended. Doc stopped in his tracks out of fear, yelling at the others to get out and to arm up. Marius screamed at Doc as he tossed Finka's unconscious body aside, hitting the wall with a thump. Lion ran other to her and cradled her in his arms as the others left in a rush.
"Hurt me all you want, you monster!" Lion yelled at the German, now lowering above him.
"Olivier! Let's go! I'm not losing you too!" Doc yelled to the younger French man.
Lion had to make a decision quickly, Leave Finka and go with his boyfriend, or stay and possibly become infected with his friend. Lion made the tough decision of leaving without Finka, she was infected and he couldn't help her any longer. Lion ran with all of his might to Doc and the older man grabbed his boyfriend's arm, pulling him out of the room as Marius thrashed about, trying to get out of the room as well. Doc slammed the door before the two ran down the hallway, yelling for the other to wake up and get their guns. Lion activated his big brother and the drone roared to life.
"Big Brother coming in for a scan!" Lion yelled as the pair ran for the armory.
Just then Marius busted through the wall, breaking a massive hole where the door was. He barreled down the hallways at high speeds, spikes forming from his back and moving to touch the ground, forming a sort of spider legs to lift him off the ground, making him run 10X faster than he was before. The man screamed in a demonic voice once more as he caught up to the pair. Lion and Doc split off in the directions but Marius kept moving forward with a surprising speed. The two regrouped and followed behind Marius as he made his way to the armory. Lion grabbed his com from his shoulder and pulled it close to his mouth.
"Get ready in the armory!" He yelled into the mic, hearing his voice come over the coms.
Marius burst through the iron doors as if they were nothing. He slowly put his feet to the ground as he looked around the room, looking for something. He didn't seem to find what he was looking for, and he turned, pushing himself back up on his spider legs, pushing Lion and Doc out of the way as he ran to another part of the facility. Marius could see footprints everywhere but none matched the pair he was looking for. He ran back to his room, walking back through the hole in the wall, looking around. He heard quiet whimpering and immediately fell to the ground, the spikes made their way back into his flesh and he pushed open the bathroom door, his eyes landing on a familiar figure as the glow that the infection produced, faded.
"Dominic?" Marius asked, his voice no longer distorted, but soft.
The older man looked up at his friend, tears streaming from his eyes. The last of the spikes disappeared back into his pale flesh as he bent down and wrapped his arms around Dominic, hugging him close. Dominic hugged back as they sat there on the bathroom floor of a now destroyed room.
"I'm sorry, Dom."
"It's not your fault."
