Elizabeth Peters

*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BE-*
I slammed my hand on top of my alarm aimlessly until I found the snooze button. Ugh I really don't want to get up this morning... I thought to myself. Then the realization hit me. It was the first day of junior year! I jumped out of bed and almost ended up sprawled out on the floor.
In my still groggy state I padded my way into the bathroom only to find my 14 yr old brother, Corey, brushing his teeth, already dressed. Boy is he pumped for his first day of high school. I groaned at the sight of him and he made a face at me.
"Come on, Corey! I have a lot more stuff to do in the morning than you!" I yelled.
"Oh shuth upth, Elithabweth." he said, a mouthful of toothpaste impairing his speech.
He finally left the bathroom and the second his feet stepped off the threshold I slammed and locked the door. Finally I thought. I got out of my cotton shorts and tank top from last night and stepped into the steaming water pouring out of the shower head. I quickly lathered up and washed my hair before shaving and then hopping out into a waiting terry cloth towel.
I blow dried my hair before pulling the long, brown strands into a high ponytail. I put my legs through my most comfortable jeans and shoved my feet into tan wedges. I paired it with a yellow flowy shirt and a kelly green wide belt that complimented the empire waist of the shirt. A girl's got to look good for her first day of school, right? Yes. The answer to that is yes.
After eating breakfast I waited in the living room for my ride. Ashley, Dylan, Geoff and I usually carpooled but that wasn't going to happen anymore. My eyes watered just thinking about Ashley and Dylan. Don't think about that right now Lizzie. Geoff is coming to pick you up and everything is going to be fine. I tried to console myself but it didn't really work. The only think that stopped the impending water works was the thought of having to re-do my makeup. And the most popular girl in school did not have to re-do her makeup so I restrained myself out of sheer will.

*HONK HONK*

I jumped at the sound of Geoff's car horn. The loud noise shaking me from my reverie. I grabbed my Coach bag and kissed my mom goodbye before running out the front door. As soon as I stepped into the brisk September air I shivered a bit. It was mostly from excitement though. I saw Geo standing there and ran to him. I engulfed him in a hug that he returned with a one-armed embrace and an "Oomph". I giggled and apologized for squeezing too hard.
The drive to school was filled with stuff we did during the summer. We would've spent it together but my Dad had a business trip to Italy and he took the whole family. I couldn't believe how much we had missed each other. I almost cried laughing at some of his stories. Suddenly, we pulled into the school parking lot. I had completely lost track of time.
We hugged again after we got out of the car and then headed our separate ways to go grab our schedules and get to homeroom. I walked into the guidance office and waited to get my schedule. 10 minutes later I had a paper in my hands that would control the next 180 days of my life.

I looked over my schedule and map of the school to highlight where my classes were. Then I sighed and headed over to the stairs to go up to my locker. I was walking up the stairs when I saw him. Jake. Jake Hudson. My ex-boyfriend who cheated on me last year with the 11th grade slut. I avoided eye contact as I scanned the hall to find my locker. Silently hoping and praying he didn't see me.
I finally found my very own maroon, metal box. I put in the combination and slip my bag inside before arranging my books, folders and notebooks by class. I thought I heard my name being called then.
"Liz! Lizzie! Lizabeth! Elizabeth Peters!"
Yup, definitely me. But also definitely not someone I want to talk to. I pressed myself up against my locker trying not to be seen or make a scene, but to no avail I saw a hand appear on my locker door.
"Hey Princess." the voice said. I definitely knew who it was. It was Jake. I desperately needed Geo to save me right now. I cringed before answering.
"Um, hello Jake." I said tentatively. I was about to give him a lame excuse to explain why I "had to go" but I didn't have to. The minute bell rang and I just told him I needed to get to class. I turned super-humanly fast and speed walked down the hall. People clearing the way to make an aisle for me to sashay through.
I found Mr. Clay's room, walked in, and took a seat. I sighed a sigh of relief and thought I did a good job of losing that situation. That was before the bell rang and a very tall, very blond, very cute (grudgingly so) Jake Hudson walked through the door and took the seat next to me. Smirking the whole freaking time.
