I take a deep breath rolling over in my bed. The little sun that peaks through the curtain shines into my eyes. Giving me the cue that it's time to start my day. I slowly sit up. I have been dreading this day since it was written in my planner.
Today would be the day that I would travel back to my hometown. It's not that I don't want to visit my family, granted I haven't seen them in about five years. I was one of the reasons that I actually decided to come back. I planned on spending these next three weeks with my family. My mother has planned a family reunion. Once she heard I would be coming back, but that's not what I was dreading. It was the class reunion. It was a wonderful thing that our lovely class president decided to put on. It would bring us all together and brag about how awesome our new lives are, in reality not everyone is happy with their lives.
I let out a sigh when I heard a knock on my door. I get up from my bed. I walk by the mirror on my way to the door. I let out a snort. My hair is pulled back into a messy bun, but not the cute messy bun like the "I haven't brushed my hair in a week" messy bun. I was also wearing an oversize tee-shirt, it goes just above my knees. I realize how long I was standing starring and I walk out the room and head to the front door.
"Trevor" I give him a small smirk as I step aside, giving him an invitation to walk inside. He steps inside and brushes against my arm with his hand. I shut the door behind him. As He walks into the living room I notice he has suitcase with him. I furrow my brows in confusion. "Why do you have a suitcase? You know you have plenty of clothes in your drawer." He lets out a small laugh. "I'm not dropping these off here. I'm coming with you." he says as he turns around. I give him a look of disbelief. "Uh no you're not coming." I give him a smile while shaking my head. He turns around an walks to the coach taking a seat.
I turn back to the kitchen table and finish putting my things into the suitcase. I haven't bothered to go in and change. Not really wanting too. It sets in that I actually have to go. Most people would be thrilled to go home to their parents. Bring home the person they love to meet the people that raised them. Don't take me wrong I love Trevor and I do want him to meet my parents. We have gotten pretty serious these past four months.
We've even taken to staying at each other's houses. We each have a drawer of clothes at each apartment. When most people see Trevor and I together they don't really think we are a couple. We look like the complete opposite of each other.
Trevor has dyed black hair with streaks of blue in it while I have long chocolate brown hair. Trevor is tall. He is at least three inches taller than me and he is covered in tattoos. While I only have a couple which can't be seen with most of my clothes on.
But there are things that we have in common. We each have a handful of piercings. Both our noses are pierced along with our ears. I also have my bellybutton pierced, but Trevor is the only one who knows. He was there when I got in.
I walk back towards the living room. Trevor is sitting in the same spot. I have had some time to think about what he said. "You're really set on going aren't you?" I ask him, crossing my arms over my chest. He gives me a childish grin. "You have met my parents, it's only fair that I met the people who gave me this beautiful woman." He says gesturing to me up and down. He stands up, and walks towards me ad grabs my waist. I look up to him knowing he can see the blush on my cheeks.
I take a deep breath. "Okay, you can come." A big grin spreads across my lips. "Yay!" He yells as he picks me up and spins me around. I laugh wrapping my arms around his neck placing a kiss on his cheek. "Okay, okay. Trevor put me down. I have to get dressed." I say in between laughs. He stops spinning but keeps me in his arms.
"But You look so good in my shirt." He says pouting a bit. Before attacking my neck with kisses. I start to wiggle out of his arms before he eventually set me back down. I keep my arm around his neck. "I'm going to go get dressed and you can take our bags to the car. Okay." I say with a smile. "Okay." I return the smile before he plants a kiss on my lips. When he pulls away his lips linger on mine. I give him one last smile before unwrapping my arms and walking into my room.
I couldn't help but think about what these next couple of weeks will be like. If you don't have me on snapchat you most likely won't know I was even in a relationship. I haven't told any of my family, I really didn't want to jinx it, but I guess now is as good as anytime.
I slip on a pair of black leggings and a loose fitted band t-shirt, that I modified a bit to look more famine. I slipped on a pair of my black sandals. I fix my bun so it doesn't look so slept in, but still has that messy feel. I apply some mascara and grab my Chapstick.
I walk out into my living room. I look around seeing Trevor nowhere. He must be waiting in the car. I walk to the door and grab my purse and phone, putting my phone into my back pocket. I walk to the door, locking it behind me. I can smell the mountain air. It smells like dew and pine trees. I live in a small apartment building on the outskirts of Denver. It's small but it's just what I need.
My full-time job is a writer. I have written a handful a books, but only one has been a best seller. It was my first book and trilogy, a crime trilogy. Besides writing, my part-time job is a fitness trainer at this gym in downtown Denver. One of Trevor's friends owns it, he offered me a job after after seeing one of my fitness videos on Instagram. I was beyond grateful, fitness being one of my passions.
I finish walking down the steps and to the parking lot. I notice Trevor in my car, he is in the driver seat. I laugh and shake my head, getting into the passenger seat. I look at him, "You don't even know where to go." he taps the screen on the dash. "I just typed in your address and boom it tells me." He tells me to hit a button. I look back towards the road. "Did I ever tell you that I love you?" He lets out a genuine laugh. "It was implied once or twice." He smirks at me. I shake my head. "Okay Romeo, keep your eyes on the road.'
We turn onto the highway. Heading back to my hometown, back to my old life.
