Tears fall down my face as he brings his hand up to my cheek. We both knew the time would eventually come.
A world like ours is constantly changing and doesn't accept people like us, so the only option is to leave. Move on with our lives and hope that in the future we can find each other again.
Find a girlfriend and make our parents proud. Us being together right now just isn't meant to be and all we can do is hope things will change so we can comfortably be together without judgement.
We hug tightly not wanting to ever let go. I take in his all I can before our dreaded departure including his touch, scent and warmth. A cool breeze starts to pick up as the sun lowers, grasping the last of the sunsets beauty.
"I don't want to leave you, I will be miserable," I sob. "I know my love, but we can no longer keep hiding, it pains me so much but we both knew that this is what was destined for us," he says running his hand through my hair then using his thumb to wipe away my tears. He buries his hand in my hair and pulls me in to connect my lips with his.
This was the last time I would feel his lips against mine. The softness of his lips move in rhythm with mine passionately.
This was our goodbye.
We pull away and he steps back still holding onto my hand. "It's getting dark," he says as I look around to view the frequently visited park that was me and him's sacred place, casting long shadows. The streetlights flickered under the refulgence of a full moon. Our hands disconnect and we make eye contact for the last time. "I wish you luck Kaspbrak, any lady would be lucky to have you." Through glassy eyes I respond.
"Same goes with you Tozier."
He turns on his heels and starts to walk down the footpath with his hands in his pockets.
I turn and start making my way home myself. Tears continuously run down my face as i walk."I'll wait for you until the day I die Tozier, I promise."
