Among Us: The Story

Four tasks

I wake up to the sound of an alarm. Yellow is bent over Orange's chamber trying to get them to wake up, while Brown and Cyan are impatiently waiting for Pink to finish changing out of their cryo suit.

"Pink you're taking so long! Ugh, would you hurry up already? We should go down to the cafeteria to meet with the others," Cyan whines.

"I'm sorry!" Pink apologizes, "I can't seem to unzip my jacket, can you get it for me?"

Cyan sighs, "Okay sure."

Cyan walks over and unzips Pink's jacket. Pink's face gets red and turns away. 

"Thanks," Pink says a little sheepishly. All three of them head out of medbay.

I changed out of my suit and headed over to the cafeteria to see Black and Red arguing while White is trying to calm them down. Cyan, Pink, and Brown are looking outside, admiring the stars. Not wanting to interfere with either group, I head over to an empty table to sit down while I wait for the Yellow and Orange to come in.

As soon as I sit down, a voice behind me says, "Sit somewhere else," I turn around to see Blue leaning against the wall again. 

I ask them, "Why? You aren't even sitting here, and I'm not even doing-"

Blue interrupts me again, "Shut up I don't want to hear it. Can't you tell I'm just trying to avoid getting into relationships by staying away from others? Why can't you-"

"Stop interrupting me. I wasn't done" I cut them off, "I sat here because the table was empty."

Blue paused, "But I was here. The table wasn't empty."

"You weren't sitting? Being in close proximity to the table doesn't mean anything? Besides, there's no reason for you to be rude like I was just trying to introduce myself yesterday and tell you my pronouns. There was no need to be so aggressive."

"It wasn't yesterday."

"Whatever. You know what I mean."

"I don't have to tell you anything, but my pronouns are she/her."

"It sounds like you're using the relationship rule as an excuse to treat me poorly... Just because we can't have any sort of relationship with each other, doesn't mean you can't be polite. Plus I think they're asking for something nearly impossible... How are we not supposed to have any relationship when the other crewmates are the only people we talk to? We can't just ignore each other the whole time either, we need to communicate to find out if we have an impostor or not, and who it is."

"Are you saying we have an impostor on board? What exactly are you implying?"

"I said if we have an impostor on board. And even if we don't have any impostors, we still need to talk to each other when doing tasks... Why are relationships bad anyways, isn't getting along a good thing?"

"It doesn't matter why it's still a rule they-"

Yellow and Orange finally come in and the door closes behind them. I get up and walk over to the kiosk near the northwest corner of the cafeteria.

Message for [THE SKELD] crewmates:  PLEASE WAIT MESSAGE DOWNLOADING...

Message for [THE SKELD] crewmates: You woke up from cryosleep [7 MINUTES AND 37 SECONDS AGO]. This means you have [1 HOUR, 53 MINUTES, AND 23 SECONDS] left to complete your tasks. We will print out 10 pages, one for each crewmate, with a list of your tasks. You should still have the map we gave you. We will call you up by order of entrance so you can get your lists... Please standby...

Message for [YELLOW]: Everyone other than [YELLOW] please exit the cafeteria.

"Bye guys! See you in a bit!" Yellow says as we all leave the cafeteria.

Message for [ORANGE]: Everyone other than [ORANGE] please exit the cafeteria.

The message calling Orange is loud enough to hear from medbay, but I can't seem to hear anything else after that. There are probably two different speaker systems...

Message for [PINK]: Everyone other than [PINK] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [BLUE]: Everyone other than [BLUE] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [BROWN]: Everyone other than [BROWN] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [BLACK]: Everyone other than [BLACK] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [WHITE]: Everyone other than [WHITE] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [PURPLE]: Everyone other than [PURPLE] please exit the cafeteria.

I get up and walk to the kiosk in the cafeteria, passing White on the way.

Message for [PURPLE]: PLEASE WAIT MESSAGE DOWNLOADING...

Message for [PURPLE]: Tasks list printing...

I look down at my tasks.

> CHART COURSE - NAVIGATION

> EMPTY CHUTE - O2 AND STORAGE

> SWIPE CARD - ADMIN

> UNLOCK MANIFOLDS - REACTOR

only four tasks? hmm.. shouldn't be too bad...

Message for [CYAN]: Everyone other than [CYAN] please exit the cafeteria.

I head out of the cafeteria and put the list into my pocket.

Message for [RED]: Everyone other than [RED] please exit the cafeteria.

Message for [THE SKELD] crewmates: You woke up from cryosleep [17 MINUTES AND 12 SECONDS AGO]. This means you have [1 HOUR, 43 MINUTES, AND 48 SECONDS] left to complete your tasks. Budget your time wisely. All of the doors around the ship will now open.
