AMETHYST JIMENEZ WAS BORN TO A WOMAN BY THE NAME OF ROSARIO JIMENEZ AND THE AZARATHIAN DEMON LORD TRIGON rosario had grown up in a religious afro - cuban household within el paso, texas and when she reached the age of 16, complications began to arise once her parents found out that she had taken a liking to brujería and summoning rituals—even more, they thought she was possessed by the devil once strange things began to occur. because of this, they took her to many priests, who failed to convert her back to religion, so with a heavy heart, her parents eventually kicked her out for messing with things beyond her control. rosario was absolutely crushed and angry by her parents' betrayal, but she used the betrayal as fuel for her journey to find the mysterious being who spoke to her in her dreams—a being named TRIGON. she spent 2 years wandering aimlessly around the country, trying to find a strong source to strengthen her connection with trigon, when she finally stumbled across CIRCE, THE POWERFUL SORCERESS.
she begged circe to take her in as an apprentice, wanting to learn more about magic and why she could hear voices from other dimensions, and circe put her through trials to see whether she was a worthy pupil or not—rosario passed them, with much ease than expected, and circe considered her worthy due to her promising talent. rosario apprenticed under circe for the next 2 years—eventually finding out that she came from a direct line of HOMO MAGI who kept their identities hidden for the past few generations—before she went back to el paso, texas, to finally summon her inter - dimensional lover, the demon lord trigon. confident in her ability, she decided to perform the ritual by herself; THAT WAS HER FIRST MISTAKE.
the ritual took every single drop of rosario's power and concentration, but it was successful—to an extent. trigon, under the guise of a man of angelic beauty, with yellow glowing eyes & horns protruding from his skull, emerged from the portal and introduced himself to rosario as the being who has been calling to her in her dreams for the past 4 years. from there, he took her as his " bride " and they conceived amethyst, though he explained to rosario that he couldn't stay in this dimension for long—she would have to raise their child on her own. she wasn't angry nor hurt, she was too blinded by the idea of trigon actually loving her; THAT WAS HER SECOND MISTAKE.
ROSARIO JIMENEZ GAVE BIRTH TO AMETHYST and she grew ill after that. her power was dangerously depleted after giving birth to her her half - demon, half - homo magi daughter, but she then assumed that her daughter was destined to be more powerful than herself. surprisingly, this brought rosario joy; joy of the thought that her lover was proud of her accomplishment. she lived on for 5 more years until her body finally gave out on her, the toll of bearing someone so powerful such as amethyst was too great, but she didn't go without preparations. she made a bargain with circe, to take care of her child and in exchange, rosario would offer whatever little power she had left and her heart to be used in whatever ritual the sorceress desired. the bargain was made and circe took amethyst as her own, apprenticing her as she had done with the girl's mother, molding her into a sorceress worthy of high praise; THIS WAS THE FINAL MISTAKE.
