"Sonic! Sonic, stop it!" Twilight squealed, sounding like angels singing as Sonic ran his fingers up her sides with a playful growl as he tickled her.

He ignored her pleas, burying his nose in her deep navy/purple hair and taking in her scent. Did she always smell of strawberries and motor oil? Oh, it didn't matter. She smelled so good, an aroma Sonic wanted to keep with him at all times.

Twilight stopped giggling as she pulled Sonic closer until she was sitting on his lap, running her fingers through his quills as he leaned forward to kiss her behind her ears. She responded by resting her head on his shoulder as Sonic dipped his head to kiss her neck.

"Sonic?" She smiled. "Sonic, I lo-"

"Sonic!"

The blue hedgehog had no time to react as what felt like a boulder landed on his stomach, jerking him awake. Still working on sleepy instincts, his head collided with something, the object responding with a pained yelp.

Sonic rubbed his emerald eyes, groaning as he touched his forehead. "Manic?"

The lime green hedgehog grunted as he rubbed his chin. "Bro, you gotta get up. Mom says we're all meeting for breakfast today."

"Did that warrant jumping on me? I'm not a trampoline." Sonic sat up and threw back the island blue covers, noting the sunlight streaming in. "Seriously, you aren't four anymore."

"And neither are you," Manic quipped. "Now quit whining, ya pansy. Mom wants us down in ten minutes."

"I'll make it ten seconds," Sonic groaned as his feet found his shoes. As he pulled them on, he paused, thinking about his dream.

Twilight......why was he dreaming of her?

"Sonic? Bro?" Manic asked.

Sonic jerked up in response, plastering a smile across his muzzle. "I'm fine. Go ahead, I'll be right behind you." He nodded at Manic, who darted out.

Almost instinctively, Sonic laid his hand to his cheek, thinking yet again of the kiss.

What was wrong with him? He felt like a cloud -- a part of the earth, but never touching it. His heart soared at the thought of a girl he met only last night, a girl he'd never before encountered, a girl he couldn't have imagined meeting.......and yet, she had done something few people could do.

She'd left Sonic the Hedgehog tongue-tied.

Sure, he'd hidden it well with every comment, but on the inside, she left him speechless with every move.

Now, he was dizzy and giddy and spacy and just......out of it.

He wasn't stupid -- he'd heard great tales of lovers and how they fell in love and what resulted from that. But those stories, those happily ever afters, never involved lovers from two feuding kingdoms.

'Maybe we'll have to write our own happily ever after. Won't that be a story to treasure.' Sonic smiled slightly. If other lovers could do it, so could he and Twilight.

He took a few minutes to gather his thoughts and calm his racing heart and breathing before he got up and headed down to breakfast.

Twilight rubbed her sleepy eyes as Spike licked her right cheek. She giggled, petting her dog and sat up, reaching for her glasses as her feet hit the floor.
