For the life of me I can't remember who wanted an Hera and Ezra chapter, but here it is!
Kanan was resting now, the now blind Jedi exhausted. I shyly stuck my head through the door to his cabin. Tears welled, it was all my fault. I trusted Maul. I killed Ashoka.
I, Ezra Bridger, blinded Kanan.
I walk out of Kanan's cabin, and out of the ghost. My limbs are tired, but I don't know what I'd say to Zeb if I ran into him. My eyes blur when I sit down by a cliffside, but I hold it back. This is my loss, I don't get to be upset over this. I caused it!
The cold draft that comes with night sets in, and I bring my knees up to my chest. I watch the rest of my crew besides Kanan head back into the Ghost for the night. Zeb, as usual, is the first in.
Zeb doesn't even look my way, he's too focused on space waffles. "Night kid."
Chopper follows him, and wheels over his foot. Zeb growls and takes off to catch that rust bucket. I notice a smell of fresh pain. Sabine strides to the Ghost, the usual confident smirk that hid anything more troublesome below. Her armor had a fresh coat of paint, she always did this. Something goes wrong and she switches the color, like living in a universe where I wasn't a screw up.
I let out a shaky sigh. Sabine gave me a mildly concerned smile.
"Ezzy you alright? She said, yawning. I was in a bad mood.
"Yeah everything is perfect right now." I said sarcastically, but Sabine shrugged it off. As is the Mandalorian way. "Alright Ezzy."
"You know I hate it when you call me that!" I snap. Sabine's smile dims only slightly, but she doesn't know what else to say. I watch her walk away, confused. How could she possibly think I was okay? It's just so frustrating to live with people who tunnel vision everything.
My breathing is loud, sharp enough to match the cold as I try to pull myself together. I barely notice someone sit down next to me. Hera nudges me and leans over.
"Ezra, talk to me."
"I'm fine Hera, go inside."
"You don't get it do you? I'm not leaving until you talk to me."
"Hera," I sigh, flustered, "I don't know what to do".
My voice hitches up, and I bite my lip. Hera scoots closer to me. "Ezra, I know you think you messed up."
"I did mess up!" I blurt.
"So what if you did?" Hera says, "I've known you too long to think this is the end of it. Ezra in order for things to turn around you need a breaking point."
"I don't understand." I mumble.
"This was the breaking point Ezra, you are going to be able to complete great tasks because of it."
Hera pushes some of my hair away from my tear streaked face and my head droops on her shoulder. "You know I'm going to help you get through this, Ezra you're my son. I will always be here for you."
I through my arms around her and Hera holds me tight.
"Always."
