"It's so beautiful out here tonight. Thanks for bringing me." You said as you laid your head on Dianna's shoulder. Your hand wrapped tightly in hers, you enjoyed the warm breeze and the smell of the ocean air.

But Dianna seemed oddly quiet so far tonight. Strange, considering a walk on the beach tonight was her suggestion. You shrugged it off at first but as the seconds ticked by and all that seemed to be heard was the sound of the waves crashing on the shore, you started to get a little worried.

"Hey," you squeezed her hand and it caused her to look at you. "Are you alright? Are you not having fun? I thought this is what you wanted to do."

"It is!" She quickly said when she sensed the hint of worry in your eyes. "I just have something on my mind, that's all."

"Oh? What is it? You can tell me!"

She chuckled but you could also feel the shaking of her hand in yours. You frowned and gave it another squeeze. She was acting a little off tonight and you couldn't hide the worry you're beginning to feel.

You were torn between pressing her about what was on her mind or just dropping the conversation completely to let it go and talk more about it when she was ready to do so.

But before you even made the choice... she stopped walking. You stopped too since she was still holding your hand; although her grip on it was becoming loose.

She let out a shaky sigh and then looked deeply into your eyes as she took your hand into hers once more. "Have I ever told you how much you truly mean to me? I mean, I'm so in love with you that I can't imagine life without you. I think about the future sometimes, our future," She clarified with a small smile. "And when I think about it, all I see is you. You make me so happy. I could go on and on for days about all the reasons why I love you and why you're the greatest thing to ever happen to me."

She let your hand go to reach into the pocket of her jeans and when she pulled out a tiny black velvet box all you could do was gasp and cover your mouth in shock.

"I've had this for a few days but I wasn't sure how to ask you. But I know you love to watch the sunset and the smell of the ocean air," she chuckled but you could see the tears in her eyes. She licked her suddenly chapped lips and got down on one knee in front of you, leaving you in awe when she opened the box to show you the most beautiful ring that you'd ever seen.

"I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. I wanna be this happy and this in love for as long as we both live. So..." She whispered as a tear rolled down her cheek. "I'd ask you to make me the happiest woman in the world by saying yes, but you already do. So, I'll just ask you... will you marry me?"

You fell onto your knees on the sand in front of her. Looking into her beautiful eyes, you said, "Yes!"

She slid the ring out of the box and took your shaky hand into her own. She slid the ring onto your finger and then cupped your cheek with her hand to bring you in for a kiss.

"It's so gorgeous." You said as you stared at the ring on your finger.

"Almost as beautiful as my girl." She smiled and quickly kissed your forehead. "I'm so happy that we get to spend forever together. I'm so in love with you."

"I can't wait!"

You looped your arms around her neck and thanked all of your lucky stars that you get to spend forever with your best friend and love of your life.
